oh my god I tried to post this last night but Patreon never uploaded the video lol
Hi guys, I have been in the depths of despair lately and decided to film a little portrait speedpaint to show you guys a little glimpse of how I work!
I don't usually like to record myself painting, it's stressful and also taxes my PC as I usually paint on pretty giant canvases. However, I've been kind of weaving in and out of despair/burnout lately and thought a lower stress portrait might be fun and I figured I could record it.
I've kind of felt like my work has been stagnating a bit- I think I've got about 6 pieces that I've worked on since last month that I haven't been happy with, so I've decided to try and shift my technique a little.
I've been doing a hodgepodge of 3D under my paintings for years now, but the technique I use to paint the final pieces changes all the time. I haven't been happy with my hair painting technique for a while now, so my main focus with this was to try something a little different. I really like the more silky/chunky hair that some artists achieve, so I wanted to try my hand at it.
The whole 3D thing is not really a process I am skilled enough to "teach" as I usually glob together things and sculpt over in a horror show. Essentially I try to get it to "serviceable" enough to paint over.
I've been hard at work concepting the Vhaeraun piece for this month's print club- I am not sure yet if I will ultimately use the idea I'm working on currently but I have been documenting the process a bit more than usual as well. We shall see.
I hope you all are doing well, I'll have this month's portrait giveaway form up in the next few days. Thank you as always for your support. ♥
