Patron Exclusive: Introducing the Smarter Scrubber

Comments

Got mine, very happy with it! It's been so long since I bought and held a product that felt like it was going to last. Some things are great as disposable quality like party balloons or gag gifts. I sure am tired of everything having a life expectancy of 2 minutes. This scrubber is clearly going to be a tool that gets passed down the generations.

KiT

Check out the “Made in America Holiday Gift Guide” for advertising your scrubber. CBS Sunday morning did a television news story on the guide

Scott Brown

Do you still have these?

Samuel Svendsen

This is so cool! I also just joined.

Samuel Svendsen

Just got the email and wanted to sign up on patreon again for this comment... You should consider in the future selling just spare brush heads. It seems very durable, but it is the part that would wear out over time. Also, you mentioned its application for cast iron skillets. Some people might have skillets but not a grill. It could widen the appeal beyond grill owners to advertise the brush head alone to that market.

Steve

Admirable that you persevered with local manufacturing 👍

Gavin Sullivan

Hey Destin. Just got my scrubber. It looks and works great. Thanks Marc Ps. I’m an ED doc. No metal shard in your throat for me. Great product improvement.

Marc Allen

Just got mine. It works great.

Glenn and Connie Hammack

Though I can't get one because I'm international, I'm extremely impressed with someone putting their money where their mouth is. Great job Destin!!!

Cris Thomas

I just ordered this! I have a chain mail scrubber (no handle, just a sheet of chainmail loops) that we use in the kitchen. It's great. And, I was in the market for a new grill scrubber anyway. Can't wait!

Danny Wellman

I got mine as soon as I saw the video.. Only got to use it once so far since it's been cold, but it is well built and I can't wait to use it more in the Spring! Happy to have something made in USA for once!

Steve Jones

😊This thing better stand up to -20/30 degrees cuz I leave all my BBQ equipment outside and I live in Montana. I'm thinking of the plastic components. Love your heart behind the product. We need more people traveling against the current to get 'er done in America! I remember when Walmart boasted everything was Made In America! How about DestMart!

James Heuberger

Send me the $ and I’ll send you one!

Martin Reutimann

Agreed, can't wait for international shipping when it's possible!

angry bender

Cant wait for the actual video about it!

Tom Dupuy

As an Australian that loves to throw a shrimp on the barby, you gotta let me buy one of these when possible. Happy to pay the shipping!

Kieran Ludke

I'm in. I believe in US manufacturing. The cost of buying foreign goods is American jobs....

Mark Wood

I placed an order. Thanks for all you do and God Bless!

Joseph Stokes

Bought 4 of these for Christmas gifts for my kids. Two have already used there's even in the cold weather. Everyone says they are great, super well made and are the best grill cleaner they have seen. Glad I got them for everyone !!

John White

I'm behind the times and just found out about this. Thankfully your guy had one in stock and it' s on the way! Can't wait to use it on the grill AND my cast iron.

Brian Garrett

Sounds great, too bad I'm from Europe and can't get my hands on one.

Gibor

I find it funny that they say they can't make molds when really it's they don't want to put the effort and money into making their own molds. But think of the fuel costs and shipping costs that you would save. It's silly.

Patrick

Thank you! Merry Christmas! 🎁✝️

Smarter Every Day

Here you go!

Smarter Every Day

@destin Is there any chance I can get a link to this video for my dad to watch? I just gave him a Smarter Scrubber for Christmas but its hard to fully explain without this video.

Don Rude

Got my Smarter Scrubber as a Christmas present!

Justin Raffauf

I ordered one!! Thank you for your good Patreonic works! ;-)

Don Freitas

Gave this to a friend who owns a BBQ business. It’s already his favorite brush

Jonathan Boring

PS When you go wider distribution expect a quick foreign knock-off that might violate your patent if you have one.

Fred S

Bought one for my son and for myself. I suggest smoothing/rounding the edges of the sheet metal handle stem a little more

Fred S

What a great tool. I've got mine on its way.

Mike & Kate Miller

Ordered 3, one for me and 2 for gifts. They came in the other day and they are great! Honestly they were slightly bigger than I expected which was a bonus surprise!

SpazC

I recently bought 4 scrubbers. 3 are Christmas gifts for relatives. My first impression is that this is an excellent design. I experimented with 3D printing a handle out of TPU filament which ended up exceeding my expectations.

Fred Boehm

When will you start to ship international? I want to order with delivery to Sweden.

Ola Larsson

My initial order was sitting on my front stoop when I arrived home today. So excited. Eagerly anticipating the arrival of scrubber #2. Many thanks.

Lizzie R Mark

Got mine today! Will be a gift for my brother. Please forgive me if this is a duplicate question- Curious on the durability of the plastic structure beneath the chainmail, hoping it is super strong material and wont break down any time soon?

Tyson Gilmore

My scrubber arrived yesterday and I just ran out to get some steaks to grill tonight just so that I can use my new Smarter Scrubber.

Josh Monroe

I already know someone I want to give this to. Unfortunately I can't order right now. Make sure you have some stock in April; I should be in a better spot then.

Rainstream

That's really cool, some friends and I are working to start making injection molds in Canada. It's nice to see you've put the effort in to source fasteners form the states as well.

Canuck Guy

Love that even the 1-1/4” bolt is made in USA! I completely agree that the other options are very ho hum. Just bought two.

Gaven Orevos

I am seeing a lot of comments from outside the US that suggest a market there. Don't know if Made in the USA resonates with them, but the quality of the product and the focus on putting principle before profit also seems to resonate. It has to be profitable to succeed, but not at the cost of doing it right. Part of doing it right is creating opportunity where opportunity should exist. The US is one of those places. The world will be better off if workers in the US can feel both proud and secure in their jobs.

Eric Lund

I think this product is an example of doing things better and worth the increased price. The product that was mentioned in the thread as a potential competitor is half the price and definitely less than half the quality / performance. The Smarter Scrubber looks like a bargain compared to that to me. Add the fact that it is made in the USA without cutting corners to shave off pennies, and it is a winner. My biggest complaint happens when a product has Made in America stamped all over it, but the designers were forced to cheap out on the design to get it made for a competitive price. Compete on quality, not price. The race to the bottom is a losing race.

Eric Lund

I couldn't agree with you more. While I do believe in a world market, part of a world market needs to be quality products made right here in the USA. I like this product especially because it looks like it is a well made item that takes into account my biggest issue: the environmental impact of cheap disposable goods no matter where they come from. I want to buy something like this once and use it for a long time. Don't care what your politics are, quality is quality, and I support it.

Eric Lund

Looking at the Smarter Scrubber, I would say I will pay the difference (about 2x the price of the one linked above) because from what I see, it is a higher quality item that will last longer and doesn't rely on a disposable piece that I need to be able to replace every year or less. I grill a lot, and the one linked above looks likely to wear out quickly. Sure, you can replace the head, but that is probably $10, and, if this thing doesn't make it in the market, good luck replacing the head. The Smarter Scrubber looks like it is built like a tank. I would expect to get several years of use out of it. I am pretty sure I can put it in the dishwasher to clean it, and it will work for other scrubbing tasks I have.

Eric Lund

Ordered one for me and one each for my two kids. Not only do I love the make the whole thing in America angle, but I have been looking for a better way to clean both grilles and cast iron pans (and the top of my wood cook stove) for quite a while. I never thought about the steel or brass bristle in the food thing, yikes! Thank you Destin for everything you do here, and especially for this!

Eric Lund

Destin, Will do. Thank you sir. Email sent

Daniel

Good to know!!! I try to clean mine regularly and the grates are made from some really good stainless thick product.

Jeremiah Cawthon

In our testing, the only one that was able to be broken was a smoker that used expanded metal and the tester was putting as much force as possible on it until a chain link broke.

Smarter Every Day

Absolutely. Send an email to John on his JJ George website please

Smarter Every Day

Can i order this to deliver internationally? JJStores only seems to list to USA...

Paul

Destin, I ordered 5 today, but notice in the shipping drop down menu there were no options for AA AE AP military APO/FPO postal addresses. Is that something you can work on with George and his web team? I'd like to be able to send to a friend stationed overseas if possible.

Daniel

Awesome I am excited and will let you know :) I am continually cleaning smokers and grills!!!

Jeremiah Cawthon

You had me at "maille".

Gryyphyn Crosthwait

This should work on blackstones if I'm not mistaken.

Smarter Every Day

I got mine today. Let's cook!

David Clark

Holy Heck this shipped fast. I just ordered this the other day and it arrived today! Destin included a brief hand signed thank you. Thanks man! This thing is awesome, made my day to get this so early!

Tom M

Can you make a scraper for blackstones?

Jeremiah Cawthon

Bought one. I have a small catering company and 3 smokers. I need a tool like this!!!

Jeremiah Cawthon

Love the "American made" mentality, that's why my brother and I started our business and an outreach program in our shop! https://www.mfgforliberty.com/

ChederCheese

Such a fabulous idea. Ordered mine before the video ended. Let’s go!

Doug White

Would love to buy one but can't get it shipped to Canada ;( I mean it's not that far. It was the perfect Christmas pressent for my in-laws. @Destin, how can we make that happen?

LEON MONTIEL

Great idea, Destin. I appreciate your inspiration, passion, ingenuity, and your willingness to share those things with us. Thank you for inviting us along on this journey. I'm gifting two scrubbers, and am looking forward to seeing the upcoming deep dive videos documenting the adventure. Grace and Peace.

Lizzie R Mark

I think it's an excellent idea and I can definitely get behind the initiative, but my question for other patrons... what premium would you pay for "Made in America"? Because realistically, this is the market competition (https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6zRa8ZO4ag) - a similarly designed product by a well-known brand sold by an (inter)national retailer at half the price. For me, it would be hard to justify more than a 20-25% premium for American-made. I would love to see a resurgence in American manufacturing, but at the end of the day, the economics have to work for it to succeed.

Vincent Lai

Arrived today! Looks great!

Neal

I ordered it 2 days ago and it arrived today. This thing is solid. I love supporting 100% American made.

Cory A. Stokes

Damn… no international shipping…

Jesper Sand

Done! Solved one of our Christmas conundrums. Thanks Destin

Jim Anderson

Bought!! :)

Bill Bonnett

I believe in this vision of shortening supply chains right down to single links. I would say that this project could inspire folks in almost any country to do the same. Build local...buy local!!

Thomas Maufer

So nice that you put your skills forward in support for domestic fabrication. Looking to buy in support of you're efforts. No shipments options to The Netherlands makes it a bit harder. But i'll probably find a way to get it to me.

Mike Zitter

Is this a candidate for Shark Tank?

Fred S

I hope these do well enough that you can look into setting up distribution in the EU.

Peter -jag- Annema

Cannot love what you did enough!

Fariborz Soroush

Weird that this showed up in my inbox yesterday - and one of my Thanksgiving guests found a wire brush bristle in his plate of brisket. Ordered two!!

Jason Addink

All the links should be working now... I see he's got cloudflare doing redirect and he's posted this page https://www.smartereveryday.com/smarterscrubber/

Don Rude

Sad can't ship to Chile!!

Vicente Morande

Just ordered one for my Dad, who is a very discerning gadget guy. I know he'll love this. I appreciate everything you have going on here - the process and the product. Love how you bring together great ideas and excellent skills to meet your goals, even if it takes time. Thank you, Destin!

Jeanine McCarthy

it would be nice to keep this "Made in America " series going. this is not just an engineering issue but also a social and societal issue . you have a unique place where you could put the spotlight on the people that make manufacturing going from the CEO, engineers, workers and even the politicians. Made in America and jobs creation are not a single party issue.

hfidek

I see I'm not the only Patron from outside the US commenting here! As a Canadian, I love how clearly you bring to the attention that it is much harder than before to design something from concept idea to shelf, completely in North America. That's amazing work! I hope you'll be considering making a video —even a short one— of the design process. I'm sure it would spark some ideas. Just hearing you say «we don't make molds in America, we send those off to China» also scared me; it just shows how mass production in NA seems completely out of reach of many.

Tiky

I'm hungarian so I don't have anything to do with the US but this whole concept is just amazing. Inspiring. I want to do something similar in Hungary as well. Thank You, Destin!

kalaPAAL

Awesome! I’m searching for and buying more and more Made in USA products. Ordered! Merry Christmas to me!

David Coutcher

Also: there's a cool hardware store a few hours from where I live called "Lehman's" that specializes in Amish and US-made goods... they might be interested in distributing once you've ramped up production (I'm not affiliated or anything, just a place I happen to like visiting when I'm over there)

Sean Corbett

Definitely getting some for Christmas presents (and one for myself... I love that it doubles as a cast iron scrubber). Here's an idea, if you haven't thought of it already: You should include a card with a QR code (and maybe a type-able tiny url) to a video about the manufacturing process, even if it's just the video above. I'd love for gift recipients to be able to learn about why it's special.

Sean Corbett

Destin, this is amazing. I've been working on a small hobby project that it looks like I'm going to sell about 200-ish of or so (a little expansion board for a 3D printer, X1Plus Expander, it's on crowd supply), and I've also been agonizing a bunch over whether I could get it made in the US -- not just for tariff reasons, but because it seemed like I should be able to. This is my first manufacturing project too, and I found that PCB assembly was going to be close to a factor of 4 more expensive, and that I probably wouldn't be able to achieve a sellable price for it this time, but I was really sad about that. I'd be really interested if you write or talk more about the economics of this project, and in particular, where you're trading off non-recurring engineering expenses (tooling and mold making, etc) for per-unit costs, and how that compares here vs. overseas. Either way, thanks for doing this!

Joshua Wise

Are you planning to ship outside USA? I'd love to order one too

Pavlo Kerestey

Just ordered one :D Thanks so much for doing this. I've been hoping more companies would start building stuff here again.

Ralph Price

So happy to hear that the prototype is doing well!

Smarter Every Day

i.e. these work http://www.smarterscrubber.com/ http://smarterscrubber.com/ These do not. https://smarterscrubber.com/ https://www.smarterscrubber.com/

Don Rude

Hey Destin, I finally got to a Linux terminal and bottom line is that you should remove all the https link for SmarterScrubber.com until you change the redirection hosting.

Don Rude

At the company I work at (in Rhode Island), we are working on intermolding custom bolt into injection-molded TPU for our hammers. Our current or older parts use a poured urethane, but for a number of reasons we will be switch to injection molding and we are purchasing all the machinery move it in-house. For this reason it is really interesting to me to see that you appear to be doing a similar process for a completely different product and application. This is getting me super excited, I could talk about this stuff for hours but I'll wrap it up here before this turns into a 5 page essay!

Christian Kunis

Logan, the red-neck(-beard) engineer. Nice. Love the guy and his accent. I also want to find a job that makes me happy :D I wonder when the first accessible hand-grabber screw-on shows up on Thingiverse. Maybe some kind of Curling-Stone handle for extra putting-the-back-into-it? oBTW: Destin for President! Cheers from Germany :)

Chris K

I'm looking forward to the video on the channel about the development and manufacturing of this product!

Laura Snell

I'll be ordering a few for Christmas! We still use our prototype almost everyday in the house as iron skillet scrubber. I live on the coast of GA, where everything rusts, and the chain mail and handle HAS NOT RUSTED! Great build!

Chris Busby

Just ordered two! Is it safe to use with porcelain coated grills?

Bruce Grembowski

The instructions say to keep it around 250° max too keep the plastic in good shape i believe. They do have a temp max.

Chris Busby

Amazing! I really genuinely would have ordered several! Our church could use them for their grills as well. Wish there was international shipping. Keep up the incredible work. May God bless you all.

S Kelly

We used them

Smarter Every Day

Yes!

Smarter Every Day

So Impressed Destin! Thanks for supporting American Manufacturing! Have you considered offering the scrubber separately from the handle as a standalone product?

Jeff E.

https://smarterscrubber.com/ doesn't work http://smarterscrubber.com/ does

Amir Notea

Ordered and waiting, dumped the bristle brushes years ago. Looking forward to an effective grill brush!

Truth be Told

Even though I live in the EU, I am very glad about what you have done. I wish more countries/businesses/entrepreneurs or just regular people would do manufacturing locally instead of relying on China. Whole world relies on China now - a country which is a geopolitical opponent to the west, a country where manufacturing is more expensive than other Asian countries, yet we still giving our money to China, and closing local businesses. This is not right. Wish you all the best with the Scrubber!

Aleksej Vlasov

Not American here but I wish whole world and we as mankind would have more people like you. Back in days our country was on top of electronics, we invented contact lenses and much more. Nowadays we become assembly center for eu and it’s just sad. Fingers crossed this is great work!

Filip Sádovský

No brainier....ordered two immediately. Thanks for making it in America. I look hard for cloths, tools, and anything I can in life that is made in America. It costs more but it's worth it.

martinarcher25

Have you ever thought about EDM Dies and etch the mold from a carbon electrode?

Don Shuford

Love it!

Keith Miller

Can this be used on a hot grill? Obviously the handle and chainmail are okay but not sure how the plastic head will hold up?

Ben Brand

Nice! I bought one, they look great!

Justin Yoder

Top two links aren't working but the JJ George link worked for me. I use the Scrub Daddy scrubber for the same reasons you mentioned about the wire brush ones being bad, but I like the idea of being able to take this inside to scrub my cast iron as well. I was thinking it as soon as I saw this and then you mentioned it was able to be disassembled for that exact purposes I was sold. I know like with all engineering problems there is more than one way to solve it, but I'm here to support your idea. I'll keep my Scrub Daddy one as well because it also works, but maybe yours will be so much better that one will become the back seat.

Payperheirplain

Awesome! Got one ordered. I love that the handle can be removed so that you can use the scrubber on cast iron. I have a chain mail scrubber for my cast iron, but it is just the rings without any grip. It can make scrubbing hot pans difficult, so having a mail scrubber with a grip will be great! It'll also be nice to not worry about bristles on the grill. The Smarterscrubber.com site was not working, so I ordered from JJGeorge. Looking forward to giving it a try!

Martin J.

You can email me at rudedude@gmail.com ... I'd be happy to even get on a call of some sort and help wall you through it

Don Rude

I've seen a couple posts here pointing out the issue / limitation that seem spot on even without looking at the server responses myself. If you are familiar with some command line Linux stuff just try "curl -vk url" for the four combinations of http, https, www, and no-www and you'll see your redirection service responses. I just don't know what other hosting options you have open to you.

Don Rude

Hit me up, Destin. I haven't used Namecheap specifically but have been working in web dev for 20 years.

Johnny Martin

This won't exactly help you but 1) Namecheap has amazing customer service in my experience, 2) they have really reasonable hosting prices, and 3) they have a black Friday sale starting in under 2 hrs so if nothing else you could get hosting from them probably for cheap for at least a year or something like that. I have websites just for pro bono and fun so I'm not the SME in this field.

Peter VanNess

I just bought 2. One for me and one for my dad as a Christmas gift. This is great I am Proud of you. I hope its a huge success and you do make some money off this you should! Happy Thanksgiving!

Nashguy207

That's great, Destin. I ordered one. Every time I use a scrubby, it is stained and doesn't work that well anyway. I have a Trager. The grill has a porcelain coating. I guess we will find out if it is compatible. :-)

Steven Payne

Is it only shipping in the US? No international shipping?

Alejandro Lemmo

I want it! I see myself using it while camping without the handle!

Alejandro Lemmo

Yea, instant ordered. I needed a new one and you are right, everything else on the market kind of sucks. Glad you made it through your EMD phase and moved into LRIP. Hopefully it is successful and progresses into full rate production!

Tom M

I had a quick look at their services. Redirecting from https is a hidden extra service. (Need SSL with them, and practically a minimalistic hosting.)

Zoltán

Congrats Destin and team! This is awesome.

Andy Connelly

https (port 443) is not responding on smarterscrubber.com (or www.smarterscrubber.com which is the same). Either not set up, or blocked by firewall. The http (port 80) works. It's only a redirect, so not really critical, but in general, you want to use https.

Zoltán

I will be reaching out directly

Smarter Every Day

Awesome. American manufacturing is the best, and Im happy to support it (I work in it everyday) - plus, Chainmail is just AWESOME. :D ordered, and hopefully its ok, sent the link to my buddies.

SlvrScoobie

I believe I’m having issues with my redirect from my URL service (Namecheap). If anyone knows this world well I would love some help.

Smarter Every Day

Thank you Trevor!

Smarter Every Day

I love this idea. Domestic manufacturing is incredibly important and I think it's a well engineered product. I'm going to get one for me and as a gift for someone else.

Strawberry Puptart

Bought one as a gift since I don't grill, but still want to support American manufacturing

Luke Turner

I got one of the prototypes back in April. Works very well.

Trevor Valentine

Amazing work! Ordered a couple from JJGeorge.

Andrew Lear

The only way that America can compete is by doing things better and worth the increased price. The only way I see that happening is by employing as much human assistance technology as we can to magnify the efforts of the workers. Workers are very resistant to technology being used to try and replace them, but tend to be receptive to technology that magnifies their efforts. Mass manufacturing is inherently stuck in a pipeline to be as efficient as possible, and it is difficult to change and difficult to compete with other countries that also have robotic manufacturing lines. We'll need to be more nimble than yesterday's manufacturing ("half-mass manufacturing", if you will), but I'm not aware of any mature technologies that can assist a young manufacturer who didn't take several years of college robotics (industrial 3D printing is definitely getting there, but that's still more of a prototyping technology). Looking forward to your video explaining your plan! We definitely need localized manufacturing capability.

chromicacid

Destin you should reach out to your vast network when you need things. Injection molding molds are made in the US. There is a whole injection molding industry with high expertise in central Massachusetts. These guys might be a little overkill for what you needed: https://www.nypromold.com. I've also worked with https://beaconmedtech.com but they might be a little too biotech/high tech for you but I'm sure there is a good fit for your next project in the US!

Keith Jensen

Done. Ordered. I have been using a chainmail scrubber from King Arthurs Flour for years. Hadn’t stop to think of using the same thing for my grill. Sold!

Michael Coolidge

Done!

Daniel Williams

The two "dedicated" links aren't working at the moment, but the alternate link (to jjgeorgestore) works. Destin is not exaggerating! I was once invited to a friend's house for a barbecue and bit into the chicken—and bit down onto a wire that had come off the grill brush—nobody had noticed it. Fortunately the wire's end didn't go into my gums. Otherwise I'd have been in a world of pain. Going to order one of these things, pronto.

Mike Arst

Just bought 3 on the alternate site. Great work Dustin. Thank you.

Jared Casperson

Thanks, Just picked one up, looks great

Jake

Destin, this was probably the root of my issue loading the site when clicking the link here in Patreon on my phone.

Don Rude

If you would like, you are more than welcome to email me skoorrevir@gmail.com And I can quickly set my server up to fix the redirect issue.

River Rooks

This story is amazing. I can't wait for you to share it with @tryopenx and Palmer Lucky on Twitter. They are all about American manufacturing!

Don Rude

The chain-mail scrubbing head looks brilliant, purely based on the visuals I have concerns about the longevity of the shaft as it looks like relatively light metal and even with the curvature it looks like it might fatigue quickly given how long it is. How heavily stress-tested have they been to date by existing users?

Steve Wells

Great effort on contributing to locally made products. Unfortunately, as I'm in Australia, I'll be holding off buying one. Awesome concept though.

Daniel Turner

Yes! Also we need a 5 minute video for Patreon only on how you got your CNC, did I make stuff give you a connection?

Jonathan Boring

Yes

Jonathan Boring

Say no more.. Order placed. If we keep buying things from China only to save money in the short term, we are going to destroy our country's ability to compete in the world market. What you're doing is amazing. No question this is going to be successful. You should get with Mike Rowe to collaborate on some "Made in USA" products/concepts

Steve Jones

Android phone, chrome browser. Someone here suggested adding www to the front and then it worked. Redirected to grilling site

Don Rude

What about us Canadians😔, no shipping to Canada....

Farid Aziz

Found it by going to the JJ link. You’ve solved my gift-giving problems this year! Great idea, great product. Keep ‘em coming, because as soon as my friends see these, they’ll want one!

Nicholas Potter

Hey Destin, the issue you're having with the www.smarterscrubber.com links, is due to the way the web redirect is set up. It looks like you're using Namecheap's redirect service, it only supports plaintext HTTP - and not HTTPS (with a TLS certificate). This link (with HTTP) http://www.smarterscrubber.com/ *should* work, but many modern web browsers warn people when the visit plaintext websites. If you don't have any web hosting plan with Namecheap, you probably can't perform the other options (for HTTPS instead) available here: https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/385/2237/how-to-set-up-a-url-redirect-for-a-domain/ You may want to use a different service for the redirect instead, you would end up setting an A or CNAME record for your domain's apex and for www, pointing them to whatever third party redirect service you pick. That service would need to obtain a valid TLS certificate on your behalf in order for HTTPS to work - but they'll probably sort that for you.

AJH

This is awesome! Happy Thanksgiving!

Phil

Just ordered one through JJ. The other links didn't work for me.

This happened to me too, I got a confirmation email and my credit card was charged so it seems like everything worked

Luke Weidner

Let us know when the site is back up please?

David Macauley

Amazing to see this in REAL TIME. For me, I am amazed at the ability for engineers to take ideas from 3D CAD files to IRL pieces. We live in the age of wonder. TY sir

Rob Howard

Website broken. I guess that's a good thing. The server might be made in America too🤪

Luke Hileman

Website didn't work on my iPhone but worked on my MacBook. Just ordered the torch/thermometer/grill light where you can add the Smarter Scrubber. Looking forward to my new toys!

Brian Polakowski

Thanks Kevin, just ordered 3!

Conor Lansdale

Dude I am so excited for the video about putting this together, particularly about how you made the dies. I've been working on a product myself and it's been a challenge to find US manufacturers. I'm interested to hear everything you have to say about it. Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!

NightHawkInLight

I attempted to purchase one with paypal (not using https which worked) and after checkout I'm redirected to https://www1.rivet.works/?tm=1&subid4=1732834655.0109600000 Not sure what that is, or if I bought one or two while testing.

Michael Dahlgren

I can't load the site. Must be overloaded

Don Rude

Would love to buy one but website won't load.

Joe Madden

Just ordered one! Couldn't get through with Safari so I used Firefox. That worked! Thanks for this, Destin!

ruralbob

Website isn’t loading. I want to get two but I guess I have to wait until it isn’t so overloaded.

Yokoboo

This is so cool. I wish the website would load!!

Jared Roman

You ARE an engineer all right. >_< I love the amount of practical thought and intention that went into this. That is fundamental engineered design. ...And I want one, BTW, cuz, duh.

Cousin Vinnie

This is so freaking awesome Destin. I've been a machinist for 12 years and you nailed it on the head with bringing manufacturing back. Hopefully more young people get involved in manufacturing as there is a massive need for new talent. This is also priced really well. I've quoted a lot of parts and everything I see here is designed with manufacturability in mind keeping your costs low. Can't wait for mine to show up.

Garrett Weaver

This link should work as well: https://www.jjgeorgestore.com/the-smarter-scrubber/

Kevin Thomas

Building things for longevity rather than being disposable is something I can 100% get behind. And I think we broke the website because now it won't load.

Nathan Wilson

I wanted to buy 4 Destin and I can’t get them shipped to Australia! How can we get around that?

Dan Strathdee

Adding the www. before makes it work on mobile. Ordered mine very excited

Sean Newton

The link given gives me PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR from France(EU) Firefox 115 (Linux) After removing the s from https i get redirected to https://www.jjgeorgestore.com/the-smarter-scrubber/ which works.

Benoit-Pierre DEMAINE

What a great project! I share your concern about domestic manufacturing. As a retired electrical engineer, I started by designing stuff that was produced domestically. There was a change to outsourcing the manufacturing (domestically), and then to outsourcing the design (domestically). Of course, that changed to our domestic suppliers doing their manufacturing outside of the USA, and my employer starting engineering groups in India and China. Nothing good can come from this trend! Good luck with this project!

Steve Kurt

Can't get to the smarter scrubber.com web page. Maybe not yet in some DNS servers?

Brian

The website is down. P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!

Trint Ladd

I bought 2 as Christmas gifts, would love to include something about Smarter Every Day's motivation and process in devloping and marketing them in the gift package. How can we make that happen!

C. David Buchanan

hi destin, great idea and awesome product. i would love to buy some right away, but you don’t deliver outside the US. hope you will do so in the future. cheers from switzerland

Bruno Stiefel

This is pretty cool. I would love to see a video about the process of creating the injection mold. I used to work at an engineering company where we designed our own molds/dies but I'm pretty sure we contracted the machining out. I'd like to think it was done locally but I'm not sure

Chico Demmenie

Order place! I love what you are doing here. Go USA!

matthew s arnold

Huge respect for this type of thing. Not the easiest or most efficient approach, but the one that best aligns with his values. Awesome

Jason Steving

I'm not from, nor do I live in the USA, but I'm so happy for this. It resonates very much with my and wish to do the same in my country. Bring back the manufacturing of high quality "home made" things from overseas. All the best Destin, keep being awesome

Szymon Wlodarczyk

Awesome stuff Destin,

Christopher S.

Thanks for helping me finish my Christmas shopping! My dad and father-in-law will both be ecstatic when they open these up !

SpazC

Can’t wait to gift this!

I can’t get the link to work

RENDEZVOUS WITH DESTINY Q

Website seems to be down at the moment.

Keith Chiem

The "made in America" might not resonate with the rest of the world, sorry. But I'm happy for you for seeing this through with local manufacturing.

Arjen van Weelden

Put a www. In front of the website. Not loading on mobile with this link.

Jonathan Boring

Make sure to use www. The link he included is broken

Jonathan Boring

I can’t get the website to load. I’ll try again in a bit.

Zach Wiggin

Just bought one! ☝🏻

Jonathan Boring

Would love to buy, but the link isn’t loading for me

Jeremy Von Phoenix

The website seems to be down, or not reachable from my country

Sam Degheldere

deep dive into the mould making please and thank you.

Nick Hobson

Awesome … but seems you're just a tiny bit popular because the announcement killed the website. Hopefully you can spin up a CDN/WAF soon. 🚀

Chris Petersen

Yes! Ordering asap. Well done Destin! Happy Thanksgiving. I am Truly thankful for you and the way you are part of our family fabric- who our kids refer to as “Uncle Destin”

Kurtis Moss

Yes! This is a big motivation for what we do at T.Rex Arms as well. Thank you so much for continuing to support manufacturing education, and now manufacturing itself. Hugely appreciated!

Isaac Botkin

Whoa this was an unexpected video! Let's see what it's all about :D Edit: Awesome work Destin! I would love to see more about the manufacturing process in detail, the mould making is very interesting.

Matti Loimaranta

We need a shop tour
