Behind The Scenes Flannelgraph Content - Meet “Body Man”
Added 2024-03-25 22:41:47 +0000 UTCFirst of all, thank you for your continued support of Dmarter Every Day on Patreon. I know of very few people who are using Sunday School quality flannelgraphs to discuss complex Spaceflight physics issues. I thought you would enjoy knowing that this month your support is possibly going to contribute to the untimely demise of “body man”. (It’s his fault actually for surfacing from a dive too quickly with a build up of Nitrogen in his blood.)
In all seriousness I thought you’d enjoy seeing a little behind-the-scenes for the next video. This is very tedious, but extremely fun to think about. I believe it’s possible that this video could contribute to decisions NASA may have to make in the near future. I’m excited to be able to make it. Thank you very much for your support as a Patron!!

Had no idea "Flannelgraph" was even a word. Got smarter everyday at 2:15am haha

2024-05-19 16:45:49 +0000 UTCAs someone who makes music I appreciate how long it can take to create just a few minutes (or seconds) of finished work. Some songs go from idea to done in a couple of hours, other productions take hundreds of hours.

2024-04-17 13:45:11 +0000 UTCThanks for the behind the scenes sneak peek. Also, was I the only one that spotted the canary cardboard knife hanging from a prominent position in kitchen 😆

2024-03-27 01:41:33 +0000 UTCCan't wait to see it!! Thanks for sharing the sneak-peek. I *assume* it is taking a long time because you are creating a stop-motion animation with it, which is killer! I'm sure you *could* do it via computer graphics... but old skhool flannelgraph is awesome!

2024-03-27 01:03:04 +0000 UTCI enjoy how you make science accessible to all. I'm a child of the 1960s and was particularly inspired by "The Twentieth Century," a CBS program hosted by Walter Cronkite to want to make a career in science, eventually specializing in chemical engineering. May I suggest that you make a short video to explain the physics of flannelgraphs? I was fascinated by them when I was young … and am still young at heart.

2024-03-26 18:39:11 +0000 UTCYour speech to NASA was so impactful to me that it made me was to be a Patreon. Thank you for being the voice of the people to them

2024-03-26 17:03:40 +0000 UTCI don't want to sound ungrateful, but since you appear to care about 2hat I'm interested in: here it goes. I don't care about hearing "thank you" but I would be very much interested in how flannelgraph works How your doohickey for making circles work. How everything works... how you work.

2024-03-26 15:25:20 +0000 UTCIt’s rewarding to see what a small contribution makes. Destin is an outstanding presenter, and provides great content. Knowing we are helping him have the freedom to explore his interests, and not sitting in a cubical doing what an employer needs and being miserable makes me happy as well. Looking back at my life in aerospace, I had only a few hours on the weekend to do what I wanted. The majority of the time was spent serving my company and customers.

2024-03-26 14:53:32 +0000 UTCDestin, you and yours are the only ones we support on Patreon. It's not much, but it is my vote for what I value. You put in the hard work to make high quality content and have a character and a value system that I would like to see more of in this world. I am so grateful that there are good people doing good things in the world. Thanks for being you!

2024-03-26 05:32:02 +0000 UTCNever heard of a flannelgraph before, I kept waiting for you to explain what that was. I mean, I figured it out eventually (and googled it to confirm), but still.

2024-03-26 04:31:15 +0000 UTCI had to go back and look, but, yep, you're right! I'm hoping the rebranding is "Destin's Smarter" and not what rolled off my tongue a little more readily: "Du[mb]-marter"!!! :-)

2024-03-26 00:36:42 +0000 UTCI'm assuming the "Dmarter" in the first sentence of the post description is a new portmanteau of "Destin's Smarter"? Clever rebranding. :b

2024-03-25 23:48:54 +0000 UTCThese behind the scenes videos are awesome.. it's like we're coming over after dinner to help you make videos.. You should make more of them! (and invite us over to help make videos - I'll bring the beer and pizza).. Now.. what's a flannelgraph? Off to google!
