What 1999 Game Should We Film a 25 Year Retrospective On?

Hello Free Members!

Patreon finally allowed us to post directly to you without them being public posts, so I'm excited to get the ball rolling on this. We've got some ideas for member only posts such as posting some of our older patron-exclusive videos, and we should also be able to post to both you and our members for some general "behind closed doors" announcements.

So thank you for being a free member - we're gonna make it worth your while.

For now though - it's democracy manifest!

We're working on some retrospective projects here in the background (watch our Patron Show to get more info on that) but I'm interested in which of these games you'd be most interested in watching a retrospective on.

If your answer is more complex (or you'd like "ALL OF THEM!" then let us know in the comments.

Thanks for voting!

Please Unreal Tournament! Trigger a remaster and rerelease.

Having just watched CreatorVC's FPS documentary, I feel games like Soul Reaver do not get enough love. Obviously, I'm not saying it should be included in a doc about first-person shooters, but I do feel like the world is well aware of Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament (maybe not so much their impact on online gaming, though), while Soul Reaver is a game and style the video game world has forgotten over time.

Freespace 2, anyone?

Tony Hawks Pro Skater was the correct answer βœ…

UNREAL TOURNAMENT by a landslide but also all of em lol love your documentarys got hooked with the Final Fantasy 14 one

Pylohn

No Planescape: Torment? Really? Really??

I voted Soul Reaver, that intro cinematic is one of the most atmospheric of that era. It really stood out to me. Quake 3 though, is a game I cherish and have played a lot back then and bought twice, still own the big box edition. If you decide to make some doc on QIII, I would love it too. Thanks!

Soul Reaver, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3. Assuming ALL 3 are an option, in that release order. I know UT was "Foundational" in a lot of ways But Soul Reaver, Needs more love. Even in "Current Year" is a sleeper title, one of those "if you know, you know" titles/series.

TheSlowPainter

I mean if β€œall of them” is an option…

An Unreal Tournament doc would be would make me super happy. But I must say, the real 1999 game I'd love to see you do a doc on is Ape Escape.

TheTenToedMan

Has to be UT, but even as someone with a dog in the fight, I have to admit a UT video would be incomplete without at least context of Q3 (and vice versa).

Ciaran Hannigan

Unreal so maybe you can ask Epic why they removed all the old Unreal titles from every damn store and get an answer.

Jason A. Zelek

We always took quake breaks at uni, but UT has a special place for awesome multiplayer in my heart.

Alternative option: Grandia. First 3d RPG I think? Only released for the Saturn in Japan, I imported it to the UK and put in 150 hrs before I finished it. All without a clue of what was going on πŸ˜…

Soul Reaver for me. One of the best games of that generations with a great story and voice acting.

It would be interesting to see a retrospective on not just Q3A or UT, but the Q3A vs UT "war".

Dared00

All of them please!

FauxDragoon

Gotta put my vote in for Planescape Torment! All the other 1999 games I'd love to hear more about are Nintendo/Japanese which is obviously almost impossible to get interviews about. Another idea would be the third major MMORPG ever, Asheron's Call

Ben Salvidrim

Quake 3! And a retrospective on Epic Games' past, present, future?

Toastrytoaster

Q3 and UT please!!!!!

Neil Hutchinson

Kids these days. Amrite.
