Questions Please - Special Patron Q&A Podcast Episode!
Added 2023-03-14 13:00:05 +0000 UTCHey folks!
I've been on the road a lot this month (filming docs!) and will be for much of the rest of March. So I figured it would be a good opportunity to record a special Patron Q&A episode of the podcast. Questions from the patrons, but on the public feed. I'm not sure why we've never done it before honestly.
So please PUT YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS BELOW and I'll answer them on the public podcast feed. Whether it's about games journalism, game design, the work Noclip does, pitches for docs, funding, puppets or just about anything - stick them in the comments below and I'll get answering.
Danny

PS: The Last of Us Part I doc drops in just a few hours. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

2023-03-20 04:59:32 +0000 UTCWhat are each of the crews favorite game of all time, and what do each of you think the *best* game of all time is (separating favorite as a more personal preference but that you recognize may still have flaws etc. Vs *best* which you think is the closest to an objective perfect game as possible in an otherwise subjective medium)

2023-03-17 16:37:30 +0000 UTCDia daoibhse agus lá Fhéile Pádraig daoibh freisin! If you could be a present for one specific moment (it could be a Eureka moment or even just a run of weeks) in game dev. history, what would it be? It could a moment of technical revelation that's already been covered or it could be a moment you've simply theorized (like "How cool would it have been to see the very first couple of Deathmatches in the id offices?")! And... while I have you... Go raibh míle maith agaoibh as an sonas a thugann sibh! 😄

2023-03-15 20:42:30 +0000 UTCA couple of questions... In a recent episode of the podcast, Frank or Jeremy were talking about there being ttoo many games to play in current gaming. While it's exciting to have so many great games and the barrier for development and purchasing lowered, do you think this is problematic in gaming culture, in general? Why or why not? (I just remember having fewer games and the releases feeling way more momentous, especially with having to purchase physical copies of everything and fewer releases throughout the year) What do you think the best and worst trends in gaming will be in the next few years?

2023-03-15 16:32:54 +0000 UTChow do you manage and prioritize your time between the stuff you want to do vs. the stuff you need to do for work etc.?

2023-03-15 15:07:23 +0000 UTCWhat are your thoughts on covering something like emulator development? I've always thought it would be fascinating to learn about how people make them and maybe the legality surrounding them (there are one or two legal precedents supporting the use of emulators for the sake of competition).

2023-03-15 13:55:06 +0000 UTCHey Noclip! I've been curious for awhile now how the assets for each project are managed. I can only imagine the scale of notes/articles/raw video that are associated with each doc. I'm curious if a shared wiki is used and/or some kind of content repository and if so which one/s. As a data hoarder myself involved in research projects, I would like to know when assets/resources get deleted or if you guys have worked out an archival system. Thanks for all your hard work!
