Noclip - Now on Steam!

Hey folks,

So today we launched our first documentary on Steam. Bringing our docs to the platform has been in the works for well over a year now and as Valve are sponsoring the GDC Film Festival next week, we thought it best to start off with our Horizon Zero Dawn doc that will be featured at said festival.

Add it to your Steam Library for free right now!

The series comes with full closed captions along with all the subtitles that were added by our amazing community on YouTube. One nifty feature that Steam allows is multiple audio tracks so in the coming months we're going to use this feature to add director commentary to the docs. The next project to give live on Steam will most likely be our DOOM series.

This is one of a number of housekeeping projects we've been working on for the past couple of months. You'll be hearing about more of them, including some fun community tools, over the coming weeks.

Let us know what you think, and if you have the time, give us a review on Steam so more people can get access to our work.

Thanks for your support!

Danny

Off to add them to my library!!

Fair point. But the reason was that this film is being shown at the GDC film festival next week and Valve requested we put it up first so they can loop it in with a bunch of promotional stuff next week. We'll get the other docs up in the coming weeks and months!

Hurray! Nicely done.

It is extremely awesome you've gotten yourself onto Steam, but I dunno if having the front and center debut video being a game not available on PC is the best bet, might've been better to start with the Witcher or DOOM stuff maybe?

Yea you're right, we've had a few chats with the folks at Valve about how it's all set up. They seem to be changing a lot of how video is viewed, and obviously we're a weird use case. Right now each project that goes live will essentially be it's own "product" on the store. Meaning we're like EA and all the docs are games. There won't be any connective tissue between the docs aside from the search that comes up when you click "Noclip" on the side bar. This is a little messy. It's one of the first things I'd like to change going forward but there's not much we can do about it right now. We'll keep tweaking the user experience as we add more projects and hopefully they'll add more functionality we can take advantage of too.

Lol I watch the patron show that announced this last night and was disappointed it wasn't up when I looked. Thanks for satisfying my need for content in more places

Great idea!

Really cool that some of the videos are now available on Steam. I noticed that you can only review individual episodes and will probably need to add upcoming episodes to your account individually as well. Do you think that's something Steam could improve in the future to have more of a feed where you can follow and review video creators?
