Behind The Scenes: Building our new 4K Editing PC!

Hey Patrons,
At the end of last year I promised you'd be getting a steady stream of high-quality behind-the-scenes videos once Esteban came on board, and that's exactly what you're getting today!
One of the first orders of business for 2018 was getting another editing machine set up at Noclip Studios. I decided to pass my current PC down to Esteban - that rig is now going to be used for his editing days here and for helping us stream from the new set. The new rig was going to constitute our attempt to start recording and editing some of our features in 4k.
So about a week before Christmas I got a call from Patreon saying they had been approached by MSI who was looking for a creator to hand off a bunch of equipment they have packaged as a "4k editing build". Ridiculous timing really. It was about a week after the Patreon payment controversy had happened so I figure it's the universe trying to make good on all the grief we had to go through.
This BTS video above shows off the kit we used in the build, and how we put it all together. Let me know what you think! I want to do a few more of these including setting up the PC / NAS / editing environment and building out our set too.

2018-01-09 17:50:57 +0000 UTCI have a 4K TV, and would love to see more 4K content from creators, but I understand the logistics of doing so, and the fact that a large proportion of users can't view it in 4K, so I'm probably in the minority. The quality of your content is already excellent in 1080p, so I'm more than happy to wait until it makes sense! Also a belated Happy New Year to you!

2018-01-09 14:49:12 +0000 UTCWe're still not convinced that we need to shoot and cut everything in 4k, but from listening to people and looking at other creators we know we need to start moving in that direction and certainly future proofing our work. Thanks for keeping us on our toes :)
