January Patron Show - Call for Questions!

Happy New Year!

No rest for the wicked, it's January 2nd so we're back in the office. We're shooting the patron show today along with a bunch of other stuff so I wanted to quickly get a Call for Questions out so we can record them today.

So if you have any questions about what we did last year, our plans for 2018, requests for projects or content, or anything else, please stick them in the comments below.

Talk soon!

Danny

Soulsborne and From Software docs would be very nice :)

Jostein Krogrud

Would love to see a no clip video on yourself and how you came to this point. Maybe some interviews with old work colleagues etc?

Stuart parker

Has there been something you'd call "weirdest piece of advice/information we received as preparation before visiting a shooting location"? :) Something along the lines of "don't be afraid of our developer's dog in the office, she likes to eat humans" :D

spucktier

Who the person that most surprised you that that has heard of and/or was a fan of Noclip Documentaries? Industry folk or otherwise

Harribo

Also has the best 'game within a game' I've played in a very long time.

What was your favourite place to visit during 2017?

Bryan Deijnum

I would absolutely love it if you guys would consider doing a piece on Giant Sparrow and What Remains of Edith Finch. That game completely blindsided me to become my favorite game of 2017.

If NoClip became a game developer what type of game would you make?

Tony Colton

Hay Danny, now that you are relatively close to Epic would you consider doing a documentary on the progress on the new Unreal Tournament game and their open/community development method? Love your documentaries and looking forward to watching more in 2018.

What was your favourite/least place you traveled to this year and why? Also would love to see a no clip on the Silent Hill Series sometime in the future.

What are your plans to bring in more people in the coming weeks/months? What kind of content are you letting other people produce :)

Any chance we can see some inside stuff from TLOU2? Maybe a thing about the System Shock series?

Rob Curran

Happy new year, my good man! Are there any games you miss that you can't easily play anymore, such as old online ones, and how do you feel in regards to the preservation of gaming history? For instance games that you can only get now through pirate copies. I grew up on Amiga gaming and there are a ton you just can't find any other way now. Hope that question makes sense, looking forward to a big year!

Happy New Year! I will never stop throwing my hat into the ring for a No Man's Sky/Hello Games doc.

I‘d love to see a doc about Kingdoms of Amalur and the lawsuit with Rhode Island. It is still unclear to me what actually happened there. I absolutely loved that game and would love to see a remaster or backwards compatibility or something like that. I have absolutely no idea if that is even in the realm of possibility because it seems a major part of the assets are owned by the state of Rhode Island today. And to ask something video game unrelated. What were your favorite movies and music albums (video game score would be interesting as well) of 2017?

Nikolas L.

Call me morbid, but I'd like to see Noclip cover more outright disasters. I imagine getting people (and companies) to talk about games that went horrifically wrong isn't easy, but there are a lot of interesting stories there if you could swing it.

Fred Fryolator

I would love to see a documentary about Eve Online. Not the player history or the wars, those have been covered, but how it came to be.

Hey Danny. How about a monthly game review. Just one game per month, could be indie or triple A or whatever. Doesn’t even have to be a recent release.

I would like to see a show on present day development of 8-bit games for 8-bit hardware.

MrSVCD

Also of you're ever in London do a 'meet the fans' evening in the pub (but call it something less cringe)

I'd donate a kidney if you did a show on The Legacy of Kain series.

Hey Danny! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and 2018 is treating you well so far! I know you said extended cuts from the Horizon interviews, behind the scenes content and interviews with Misters Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio are on the way, but I was wondering what the next big project NoClip will tackle. If you can't say quite yet, that's totally fine, and if that's the case can you give a timetable for when you will announce next said project? A very Happy New Year to yourself and the NoClip team and here's to an excellent and exciting 2018!

Brandon K Gann

Would you ever consider doing docs on other fields that are related to games? E.g. History of machinima or games media companies like rooster teeth or ign. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I'd like to see something about the engines of the games. Something about how the game play, ai or physics that make a game great are added/changed in the engine that makes the difference. And as always, any shows you can do that brings more of your perspective about gaming or current events would be very welcome.

Any plans to do Larian doc? They did wonders with Divinity 2.

Ivan Mikulic

Happy New Year all! What do you change about Noclip this year? Or will you change anything at all? What are some of your creative visions you have for this year? I have two request projects, a Soulsborne doc and the history of Fromsoft, as well as possibly a doc on how Sony broke away from Nintendo and created the PS1 & PS2. Huge fan of all your work, this is what I've been wanting for years and you delivered. Thank you!

The_Random_Hero

Would there be any chance or interest in doing any Red Dead themed content to coinside with the launch for RDR2 later this June? Would be great for possible channel growth as hype grows. Thanks again Danny! Happy New Year!

Of the docs so far which is the one that you felt would never get past the friendly emails stage? And how long is the process between “we’d like to do a doc about one of your projects” and you’re handed a visitors badge?

Simon Johnson

Hey Danny - will we ever see a return of 'The point' or something similar? Also plan to do documentaries on 'issues in games' (like loot boxes, early access, etc.)?

It was surprising to see an entire episode about localization as part of the Witcher doc (it was my favorite part of the series), was that something you planned ahead of time, or did you decide after the fact? I guess the root of my question is how you decide what the "topics" will be for the larger docs.

Peter Karadimas

i heard yer da sells Avon, is it true that yer da sells Avon?

Hey Danny, Happy New Year. What are some goals you want to reach this year? Larger staff, more BTS, smaller shows, etc. Also, what happened to Danny's Disk Club?

Colby Kortas

You've covered a bunch of game devs already, and a bit of gaming community here and there, but what other aspects of gaming (museums, criticism, manufacturing, etc.) are high on your priority list for documentaries?

David Fetterman

I know a few months back (Still in SF at the time) you were mentioning cabin fever and mental health taking a hit from being so cut off from the world with all the planning and editing and business work you had to do. I wanna know how YOU are doing? Feeling better? Did the move help or hurt your mental health? How is Danny O'Dwyer doing? Also, I'd love to have a Q&A with Jeremy again!

Tory Thompson

Do you think you'll be more of a Raiders or Ravens fan moving forward

Danny! Happy 2018! Do you have a New Years gaming tradition? For example I like to spend at least a bit of time within a couple of days before and after New Years playing a quality game to “start the year off on the right foot” so to speak.

Tohir Tillyaev

Danny! Happy New Year! What's your goal for big projects in 2018 - like your documentaries for FFXIV, Doom, etc - compared to your one video pieces such as developer profiles? Have any magic numbers for either with your new bandwidth?

Kyle Anderson

What were you surprised by in 2017? It could be something small or something big.
