New Doc: The Hillbillies of Grand Theft Auto Online

YOUTUBE LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G86COtz0xjs

Hey Patrons,

We're hard at work on the Horizon Zero Dawn documentary this week, but before all that we have a very interesting story to share with you.

On our way to Warsaw to film our Witcher series we dropped by Knoxville, TN for a weekend to interview the folks at "Hillbilly Agenda" a rather infamous Grand Theft Auto Online crew. It was an interesting insight into the allure of GTA:O, but more than that it was a lovely story about friendship and comradery in a game you wouldn't expect.

I'm really proud of how this one turned out, and initial feedback has been very positive, so hopefully you all enjoy it. The crew themselves actually had a premier of the doc last week - so expect some photos from that in this month's Patron update video coming this week.

Happy Monday folks, enjoy the show and let me know what you think.

Danny

I used to play a whole lot of Eve Online and was part an old corp that is now defunct but still all talk on a discord server. We've helped pay someones deductible on a broken into vehicle, helped someone buy groceries when they were on hard times and got them a time and place to take a Certification to help everyone paid for to get them a better job. Some of us have met up at Eve Vegas and I'll always know if I ever needed anytime I could ask they would help. We don't always get along and sometimes politics stirs up a hornets nest but we still got each others back. But none of it would have happened if it wasn't for a sandbox game that allowed us to do all sorts of crazy shenanigans and help form a bond. I'm sure there are many other groups out there that are kind of like this and I'm glad gaming has come so far along to allow this sort of thing to happen.

Man, I have a group of friends almost just like this - we didn't meet online, but we came together through gaming, and it's still the tie that binds us, despite the fact that we're all in different stages of life now. Cheers for showing us another of these kinds of communities - they're the reason I game.

Just finished watching and this was so fantastic. I can't lie, I'm a little jealous of the tight knit crew they've amassed and man Knox seems like such a good dude. After watching this, I have to boot that game up and take a spin.

Yea sorry we had to swap it out - I've updated the links above, try now!

It says it's unavailable, Danny, I was in min 20 something when it got down.

Hey Danny, the youtube link isn’t working.

This is amazing Danny. Easily my favorite doc you've done so far. The midwestern hospitality really struck a chord with how I grew up and these types of good people having a good time. What a wonderful story.
