Found in Translation - Witcher Documentary

Hey Patrons,

And so we come to the sleeper-hit of this entire series. I said in a previous post that this was the first video I edited, because it was the one I was most excited about. I've wanted to do a video on localization since we started Noclip because it's an area of design that has rarely been covered in video form. But thanks so the folks at CD Projekt I had my (last) wish come true.

FYI there are some light story spoilers in this one too, but not half as much as the previous video.

Let me know what you think,

Danny

Another one. 23:01 the captions say "Ashkar", she was jokingly handing him an "Oscar" for his voice acting work. I feel so nit picky but I am a little hard of hearing and voices get drowned out by the audio mix in many things I watch. Having solid captions is so helpful. Too often in tv and movies I'll see what is clearly nonsense in the captions and have to crank the volume to catch the actual dialogue.

At 19:32 Borys says "godling" but it's captioned as "goblin". I noticed a couple other small caption issues but couldn't help correct because I believe they slipped in a word or two of Polish. Captions are hard, just hoping to help make the docs the best they can be! Loving the series.

I think they’ve put more work into localization than some teams put into actual voiceover

Awesome video, mate. As a dev I was already familiar with the Localization process, but its still super interesting to see how a different studio handles it. Especially a studio and license that isn't primarily English. Absolutely loving this series!

This is definitely my favorite so far from your Witcher series.

Excellent video, I had no idea about just about any of this.
