Of course this knowledge is public but is not widely shared because, as you say, “animal rights” folks do not understand. I put animal rights in quotes because if you understand the concepts of ecology then you understand that we can’t protect all the lives of all the animals. What a ridiculous notion. Death must occur for live to go on.
