I'm sure Nick Wesley who runs Urban Rivers would love to show you around if you come back. He could show you how they build those floating bioswales and what plants and bivalves they load them up with. He's a huge fan of yours! His email is nick@urbanriv.org
You visited at the absolute dirtiest time of year, because all of us who go out collecting litter right there don't go out till it's warm. A couple months from now you could travel that whole route and sometimes not see a single piece of garbage.

My daughter named that snapper Ceryneia. You'll be happy to know Ceryneia's got an equally dummy thick boyfriend named Stag. The two of them have been hanging out at exactly that spot under the Division bridge right by where the Cabrini–Green towers were for the past 3 years. https://youtu.be/CugH6M4hGtE
Ceryneia always lays in exactly that spot, facing south, with her hind-end hanging off the end of that chain on top of that old wood piling. Stag will eventually swim up and try to mount, but she never leaves him enough room so he usually falls off too quickly. Stag then swims around and pops up on the other side of the chain and rests on her front side. This plays out in the same way on the same spot multiple times a week for the last couple years now. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JEWPCFWqggk
