The Cactus That Evolved Camouflage

This episode focuses on the little-known Pencil Cactus of South Texas, a plant that is so good at hiding in the Thornscrub of its native habitat that many people don't even know it's there until it flowers with its conspicuous pink blooms.

They may be not popular to grow (except for some ardent cactus collectors) because they are so inconspicuous the 360 days a year when not flowering. They would just look like dried sticks in gardens.

🧐where i can t see it, that cactus is pretty good in camouflage...i remember one video of CPBBD showing a small white ball, i cound t see that in habitat...was a cactus, i don t remember the name...and another small plant(was a cactus? probably) that was gray, i think, pretty camouflage with the soil... beautiful pink flower. The coccon, the spider( where were the eyes of the spider?), and green bettle (this bettles work hard🙂) were pretty awesome to see, thanks for showing this
