I did plant native species of flowers in my flowerbeds in an HOA subdivision in west Houston. When the HOA told me to weed my flower beds, I suggested alternatively that I could invite a native species specialist to speak at a landscaping committee meeting. We were in a drought, and my yard didn't need supplemental water. they declined my offer, but they left me alone after that.

Unfortunately, one thing I discovered when I used to live in a house was that to kill my lawn, I would have to kill my homeowner association. all, so can you think of any plant in the Lily family that isn't toxic?
