Intro to Flower Morphology and Plant Identification

Reposting this class I taught last year that gives a crash course in plant identification. If you want an even better version of this class (consisting of four separate classes) then Backcountry Press still sells them (they're not mine to give away, unfortunately).

If you're just getting interested in botany and want to know how botanists can see a plant they've never seen before and know what family it's in and what other plants it's closely related to, this video explains it

Everything you said about "don't worry about getting it all now" in regards to the terms is so true. Been watching for years and in the beginning it just washed over me as i thought "ooo, thats a pretty flower." Now as I watch I have field guides open, I got tabs open, following up on everything you mention because now I have context, I have a place to put everything I hear, or at least where to look for a place to put it. And then last night I had a dream where I saw a composite that was completely unfamiliar, so what did I do? I looked at the Phyllaries of course

Many thanks dude, might have to take this one in chunks.

Thank you!
