Ariocarpus fissuratus

I climaxed... seriously though I love Ariocarpus, I have some seedlings going, really cool to see it in habitat.

Wish you really would do a book. One with photos. At least do a calendar. So much of what you show us has amazing composition, landscape or the remarkable cactus you show us towards the end here, with the very flat woven looking needles. A close up of that could be pause for thought.

As Joey said, same order. They're pretty interesting plants. There are a few species/hybrids that can be grown in doors at home. We've even had a few flower once we exposed them to a hot summer month. Fuckin great cool plant.

I would be curious to know how many separate times succulents has evolved in the order Caryophyllales

*succulent"is a polyphyletic designation like " algae".

April, cactus are a family... Succulent refers to an attribute... There are many families with succulent members... So basically succulent/nonsucculent is a designation based on how thick the leaves or stem is (how much moisture is contained within) cactasea is a separate family into itself... All but one cactus is a succulent, not all succulents are cactus 🌡.....

Same order

Are Lithops spp. any relation to the cactus or succulent family?

April Hughes

Their drought dormancy and ability to revive makes them highly successful. I'd love to know how old some of them are.

Fucking great video man. How are those resurrection ferns everywhere? I wouldn't think they were such aggressive growers. EDIT: Idk how to respond to your comment but I'll do some digging and see if I can find a paper that talks about aging the plant. If I find anything I'll email ya.

I really enjoyed this video. It surprised me when you said resurrection ferns would not do well in New Orleans. Turns out there is an entirely different species of fern with the same common name that lives on the oak trees there: https://www.nola.com/entertainment_life/home_garden/article_89b1f3d3-449e-5c5f-afbc-2ebd1f048743.html
