Vayl's Firth is officially finished! Also, there are now DM notes and separate maps of the farms and lumber camp.
Seven years ago, I made another battlemap of a city called Finbarr's Marsh. I'm still proud of it, but let's be honest: it's a little janky. And it needed a successor, which is what Vayl's Firth is. Hopefully it's the kind of place you'll want to let your players explore and get into trouble. And with luck, they won't try to burn the place to the ground on the first day.
I'd like to have a brief word with the Scottish people reading this. You may have noticed that this map has words like "Firth" and "Lord Provost" on it, despite not being particularly Scottish in any way. I made a map called the Black Loch, too, which doesn't really have anything in common with Scotland aside from being fairly wet. I don't have an explanation for this. I guess I just like words you never see outside of Scotland. Anyway, I hope you don't mind.
Next, I'm going to put together a Vayl's Firth Codex, which should be done tomorrow. After that, I'm going to get caught up on all the Cartographic Congress maps that have been chosen since I started drawing this. And then, at some point, I'll get to work on the next megaproject: The Vatican.
Well, that's about it. So, what do you think of Vayl's Firth? I hope it lived up to your expectations. In any case, let me know what you think!
