New Build and artwork pack!

Hello there! So it's 4:10am as I write this...It can be the tough part of being a developer  and a Dad.  I'll talk more about that in an upcoming meet and greet I'm hoping to host either this month or next.

Tonight marks 2 major updates!   A new release, and a 1080x1920 (vertical) video art pack for testing and your enjoyment :)

First things first...the new build link (no password). Note the image file is a few folders down in this one.

This build I'm considering 'beta'. I've done basic testing on it, and will continue this week. If you aren't hitting issues please don't worry about updating.  If you  are hitting the 'video stuck' issue at boot or when trying to play full videos...please try this build and let me know if it's improved. I've not seen video get stuck since moving to it, and I found a definite issue in the code so I'm feeling good about it being fixed, but there's always corner cases.

The other new portion of this build is that it has a volume control!  You can set this in the home page to set the volume of the system...so all videos that play audio should respond.

Any code changes can create new bugs, especially features, so I'll be watching for feedback and testing this week.  Please do not roll this out widely until we've had more time to ensure it's solid.

For video packs, I have two options based on how fast your internet is...if it's slow, please try this first one...remember simply go to the store and enter this number, then click the checkmark to download it:

20220021

That is an animation from an app called 'whorl' that is 1080x1920 (vertical).  Please give it 5 to 10 minutes to download and don't reboot the device.  I have gigabit fiber at home and it still took it a bit to download.

For those with fast internet and some time...this one took about 10 minutes for me to download, but includes 4 vertical animated whorls:

20222121

That is a 309 meg download..it has to download and extract, which I think is what really takes the time.  I find them very relaxing on my frames.

If you like those I'll work to make more by the end of the month and either make single packs or release them in a larger one if that's working.

Please let me know either by commenting on this post, sending messages, or emails (I'm checking all three right now to stay on top of things) how this build is going.  I appreciate the patience and hope that this build will crush most of the bugs and resolve the feedback from this first month of the Patreon!

Thanks,

Joe

Yay!! I’m all about making it as easy as possible. I’ve still got a long ways to go on some things but always working on it. I appreciate the support!

Yes! Please follow the wiring diagram here: http://www.cqrobot.wiki/index.php/3D_Gesture_Sensor_SKU:_CQRPAJ7620U2 Once it's wired up, it should work once the software is booted and the first images are displayed. There's no configuration, it gets autodetected. Up will toggle pausing the current picture...down will toggle the Information bar and QR code. Left and right will go to the next/previous image. The information bar will show if the frame is paused. There are three more gestures I'm not using yet...clockwise circle, counter clockwise circle, and 'wave'. Wave hasn't been easy to recognize but I'm working on it. The other two I'm going to try to make configurable in the future. If you hit any issues please let me know!
