Origins time again!

snatchers – A long time ago I had a vague idea for a story about a couple of criminals who try to follow the course of a major hurricane, looting businesses during the chaos, confident that they’re better prepared to navigate the floodwaters than the police. (I think this idea has probably been done a couple of times—wasn’t t...

Howdy! Some stuff fresh off the haunted newswire:

1. Artist Eamon Cowan has written and illustrated a free graphic novel adaptation of the 2024 story tempt (from A Quick Quintet of Terror)… check that out here:

alternate narration: 'tunnel'... and what's coming in May

Another new narration is attached: 'tunnel', from the wayback archives (2010), originally voiced by Logan Masterson. This story takes me back to my DC days. I think the last time I was actually on Metrorail there, it was during the pandemic, and I had the surreal, creepy experience of travelling across the city with almost no one else on the train or the platforms... during evening rush hour.

Ask people in the Cleveland area about The Ron Tanglethorn Show and you might get a few nods here and there. Never the most popular late-night offering on the AM band, it's remembered by diehards mostly for the rather unusual way it signed off the air for good.

The Alexandria Archives Stories

While adding older episodes of the podcast to the Patreon feed this week, I thought I'd quickly stitch together and add a compilation of three stories you likely have already heard--these were written and performed some time ago for the funky and creative Alexandria Archives podcast. I've re-recorded the first two but the text remains the same.

possession (2025)

With this new narration for upstanding Patreon folks, I resisted the dangerous creative urge to make any story “improvements” and instead just focused on better audio. The music is different as well, because of the difficulty of recovering the original sources.

This version is longer not just because of slower pacing in general, but because I’ve stuck more closely to the original page text of the story and did not aggressively make small cuts to keep things tight, as I did 15 year...

Ears is for listenin'!

Now is the season for long drives under cloudy skies, or maybe deep red and purple ones as the sun sets on a cold stretch of highway that’ll take hours to traverse. Toward fortifying you for those lonesome hours when you may need all the audio you have room in your brain for, I’ve attached a couple of my narrations of the works of other writers.

The Villain Playoffs: Round 4—the last contenders!

Let’s conclude the preamble to July’s Final, Ultimate, Every-Evil-Must-Go Villain Showdown with one last bunch of bads from which to pick your favorite to advance.

I suppose Karen from staircase, having mostly coasted her way to a 3rd round victory, is off somewhere smirking confidently at all challengers--but is it just possible she’s actually the horror fiction equivalent of the 2007 New England Patriots and can be upset on the verge of a perfect s...

The Knifepoint Horror Villain Playoffs, Round 3

Cast your vote! Looks like the Droditch just barely made it into the Ultimate Villain Showdown (U.V.S.), which comes after the 4th round... and as of now, features no actual human baddies.

We’re getting down to it now…. remember, if you don’t see the villain you’re most pulling for on these lists, chances are they just failed to submit their application and $15 processing fee on time.2024-05-20 13:00:11 +0000 UTC View Post
