Current Issue List

Hello Patreons!  Thank you again for your support.  I've been getting initial reports of bugs, which honestly with this being the first month, I expected, as well as just some bumps for getting started.  I want to list the issues I'm working on addressing currently so that you know I'm aware and working on them, but also...if you are seeing issues not on this list to please comment below so I can get them added to get fixed.   Some of these are functionality issues, some are documentation/videos I need to make that have been brought up as important to those here (and part of being a Patreon is you get priority support, so your words matter!)

1) Freezing after the first video plays - This has been reported by 3 people so far, and I've caught it myself. When the screen boots and the first video plays, sometimes it doesn't continue beyond that. This is a critical bug that I'm working on figuring out and will commit that everyone on the Patreon for this month will get that build as soon as it is fixed.

2) Video/Documentation for how to use the file upload UI - This is next on my list and coming soon. I'm working on an overall video for showing usage.  Also, if a folder is not specified then uploading files to the root of the drive should be an option. That option may be in the March release.

3) Bringing up the shell user interface - Some users want to be able to access the shell interface which I'd hidden for design reasons.  This makes sense and I need to make this easier to show, but then also to remove again.  For now, this will go into the documentation, but here's the quick commands:
Control-Alt and 'T' to bring up a terminal.
Type in 'pcmanfm'  to get a file manager if you need that.
To get the control bar back you'll want to use the following 2 commands:

rm -r /home/pi/.config
lxpanel  lxpanelctl restart

I'll work to make that a button in a future release to expose it, and then to hide it again.

4) Documentation of the home automation APIs - This will happen though given the above work may not be till March release. This will include how to control it via command lines such as curl and home assistant via node-red.

5) The pictures folder, when you are using the Pi directly, requires root permissions to remove/delete files. - I've tracked this down to a bug in how I setup the samba/network share. This should be fixed in the next image.

6) 0 byte files cause the 'zoom' mode to crash. - I need to investigate this to understand the proper way to fix it..if I should try to just skip 0 byte files or delete them as I find them or...I have to think on this, but definitely never want our beautiful frames to crash!

7) One Patreon tried a pi3b and got a segmentation fault. I am planning on only supporting pi4s and onward, but I also understand that Raspberry pis can be extremely hard to come by, and would like Patreons to be able to try it out on a 3b at least while waiting.  The software should run, just with choppy transitions...so I'll take a glance at this to try to see if it's an easy fix.

If I'm missing anything, please let me know!  Also if you've seen the issues above please comment and let me know...I'll prioritize based on how many are affected combined with how bad the bug is (the getting stuck after the video plays is my top priority...what's interesting there is the frame is actually playing the pictures in the background...the video is just 'stuck' on top of it...I may have to be a bit more aggressive in how I remove that portion).

Stay tuned for an art poll later this week asking for what types of artwork you'd like to see in the store..I'm going to use the feedback there for the free art pack for January!  Also I'm going to hold some contents in the coming months for things like 'best built frame' and 'best setups' and such...I need to think on prizes.

If there's anything you'd like to see me do more of, or do better please let me know. I've only been on one Patreon and I want to do great work for your support so I'm open to feedback always.

I need to think about it. You can launch it by going to the Dynaframe folder and doing sudo .\Dynaframe. If you can setup some kind of screensaver to launch that...Dynaframe will exit on 'escape'. That might be a really interesting scenario, I'll have to see if I can find a screensaver for the raspberry pi that can run a command line. Also i fyou're in bash...'run.sh' will run it and setup logging.

Hi, Could it be possible make Dynaframe pro works like a service or like an app? I have a raspberry pi and I want to use it for do other things (like web navigation for example) and when I will finish start Dynaframe pro and shows the pictures or videos

I'll see what I can do. One thing that may work is to set a transition time of '0' and just have it show pics without a transition. I'll see what I can do there. I know that the chip shortage has made getting pis super tough, and there's alot of pi3b's out there that are starting to not get as much use. I'll see what I can. For 4k that's an excellent suggestion and one I want to enable. I have a plan for a 4k mode that turns off transitions, sets the device to 4k, and then maybe tries to use omxplayer to keep the ability for 4k videos (and also disables blurbox). For your pi 4gig, if you select 'fill' for aspect ration it should disable blurboxing (since the images should fill the screen) and if you keep the images 1080p you may be fine. I don't have a 1gig to test against, so if you get a chance, please try and let us know. I'll see what I can do about the 3b's in the meantime...I hear you, definitely need a mode for that, even if it turns things off, so they can be used.

Hello. I really enjoy the DynaFrame concept. But I'm hardware limited. I have one Pi4 B 1GB, and two Pi3 Bs. so: 1) I don't really want choppy transitions, but could we put in a switch that used a VERY simple transition for using the Pi 3Bs? Something like fade-to-black, fade-from-black-to-new-image and call that the "underpowered Pi" setting? Especially for the secondary or slave Pis... I'd hate to have to just replace them. The non-Pro DynaFrame worked well enough on the Pi3s but I wanted to use the screen coordinating feature and was hoping the Pro would simplify and improve that. 2) A tutorial on how to create a single image accross multiple screen s would be helpful. 3) A mode for displaying 4k images on a 4k screen (not videos) would be nice. I'd like to display highest resolution art from the many accommodating art galleries. Only the first item is a strong priority for me. I really want to use the screens and Pi's that I have.
