Strap Yourself In! Some Patreon Changes & January's Plan!

STRAP YOURSELVES IN! This is a long one!

Hey guys! Welcome to a New Year, and what I of course am hoping will be a bit more of a refreshed and refined way of being able to bring content to you all! Most of all, this will hopefully be another year filled with ways for us to be able to connect with each other through our mutual love of K-Pop, and I can’t wait to see what awaits us! Music is getting CRAZY and if the amount of journeys we went on together last year was an indication of anything, then we’re in trouuuuble in 2022!

Key Learning From 2021

Anyway, last year was big, but I’ve taken one key learning out of it that I’ll share really quickly: I hate schedules. I really don’t like the pressure of feeling bound to do something when I actually might not feel like doing it when it comes around - its just way too stressful and makes something thats supposed to be fun just such a chore. As a result, I’ve kept things over here quite loose the last couple of months, and I intend on keeping it that way! I’ll be continuing to just provide a broad overview of what I want to get to in any particular month, and I still think that will be the best way for me to manage things :)

What I’ve Been Doing / New Stuff!

Also, in the last 6 months or so, I’ve had the really awesome opportunity to start branching out into what has been a long term goal of mine - other K-Pop related content! This is more video-essay/fan edit focussed content, and I’m absolutely loving the videos that I’m putting out. I have another channel right now just titled ‘LOK’ for these, but I’ve made a lot over on my secondary Kep1er account ‘xiaotings’. I intend on uploading on these two channels and focussing on continuing to branch into this content this year, so feel free to go and check out those alt accounts as well if you would like! But reactions of course will still remain central and priority.

2022’s Game Plan

Basically, what I’ll be doing is cutting back a little bit on reactions on YouTube and Patreon - but only really for the extra content that I ventured off into outside of groups I already actively listen to. Now this is not to say that I’ll never check anything out ever again or anything - it’s quite the contrary. It’s just that instead of always checking out practically EVERYTHING that drops, I’ll check out some of it and move at my own pace in addition to the artists I love listening to and focussing on. There is a LOT that I focussed on last year, too much if I’m being really honest, but it gave me a really good look at stuff that I want to focus on in order to create a much more manageable monthly plan over here on both Patreon and YouTube.

So that moves us into more of the monthly framework that I’ll be looking at - I hope you’re all still with me! Haha

So basically, I’ll be aiming to focus on specific artists both over here and on YouTube. What this means is that I’ll prioritise content for these artists both over here and on YouTube, but content over here and over on YouTube will not be limited only to them. For Patreon, like I said earlier, irregular content such as comebacks, albums and debuts, I’ll check out when / if I have the time, but I won’t be diving into variety / reality for those groups unless I become REALLY interested in them. YouTube is a little different, somewhat just as the content I watch over there is generally shorter in its nature, but I’ll still be exercising my discretion in how I approach that too. More on that later as it’s an entirely different beast.

Artists I’ll Be Focussing On In 2022

For now, here’s an idea of where we’re going to start with Patreon. This is not this month’s lineup or whatever, this is just a broader overview of where my main and strongest interests lie.

Artists I’ll MAINLY be focussing on here on Patreon moving forward (for reality / variety content):

• Astro
• Twice

I have two ‘New Years Resolution’ artists that I’d love to dive into more this year as well, and those are TXT, and Oh My Girl, but we’ll ease into them and we’ll get there eventually!

Keep an eye out each month for a mixture of these artists because they will be the ones I’m focussing on the most! Naturally, focussing on all of them at once is pretty impossible though, so you won’t see all of them on the same monthly plan each month.

Now I know a lot of people may think “But Lok…where’s _____ ?”. I’m going to be real up-front guys, as much as I really want to watch and react to everything to satisfy everyone, I just simply can’t keep up, and also, I don’t want to as well if that makes sense? I don’t want to ever force content or box myself in, so it’ll be best if we’re all on the same page with this!

In addition to these artists, I’ll still be doing our K-Drama watch parties as they’re honestly soooooo fricking fun, and I’ll also still be doing reality shows as well. We’ll limit how many reality shows we do at once though, as these are extremely time consuming and take a lot to remain invested in.

So far, the main reality shows (with episodes over 1 hour) of interest on my list this year are:

We’ll inevitably add more as things come up, but for now this is a good place to start!

I will try my best to get to as much of this as possible, but time restrictions / other commitments may come up and inevitably impact some videos. If so, these will be done the next month.

This post is long as hell and has taken me a few days to read over and what not, but I hope it covers off any questions anyone may have. The main thing I want everyone to remember is that I love what I do, and as a result want to make sure I keep enjoying it with you all. I’ll always be checking out new things, but having this structure is important, and I can’t wait to do it all with you guys!
