Alternatives to clicking in the scene?

Hi,

does anyone has ideas for alternatives to clicks in the scene (for excitement meter)?

I tried 'mouth movements', but it appeared to be even worth + detection was different on different devices. The only idea I have is to make "one click = one skip of dialogue", so scene length depends on amount of dialogues rather then anything else

Please feel free to share your thoughts

we need to aim the same solution for web, desktop and mobile

I know I am really late on this. Could do a series of key inputs/holding. Like during a scene have the person hold the e key, after a small bar fills up they are asked to hold down another key, This could change certain transitions, facial expressions or even text that appears during the scene

I don't really feel that spamming something else will help much. I will try skip to next dialogue thing and if it doesn't work good will try something else. Thx, m8!

i know i'm quite late but i have 2 ideas 1- click'n'hold with bars when you click a small bar appears you keep holdin until the bar fills up when its full you get the next dialog/interaction you have to reclick to make next bar appear and repeat until the scene is done 2- keyboard spam > mouse spam basically let us spam an "easy to spam" keyboard button in those scenes instead of mouse clicks mobile version is okay i believe they shouldn't have much problem with tap-tap spamming but mouse is really annoying so using keyboard instead would be really good you might also try mousewheel(turn downwards) for if it has to be on the mouse as that is pretty easy to spam but that might be a little too fast so i'm not sure

OnionSama

yes, I tried this in the past, but code don't work well for different game versions (exe / swf timer is updated like with 10 times difference)

some games have the person move the mouse in a certain way. kinda like the mouse is moving the character

it's 2D

Well joysticks, pads, they have a couple different options but they integrate them into the game building nicely. Are you building this in a 2D build or are you actually using 3D

cool, but not sure if joystick can be used for this type of game :D

leave2gether

Oh okay I’m a developer too I was gonna say unity has a great 3D joystick model that can be integrated with minimal c# o java script changes

still using Adobe Animate CC. I'm learning Unity in my free time though

What platform are you constructing the game on, what engine

Okay, I will look into adding simple skip button for game in future. Thank you for your feedback!

leave2gether

this will probably need way more of extra animations to produce for every scene

15 seconds is really a lot. How many fps you get? I mean normally Casey walks from elevator to sales room like in 1-2 seconds

What about clicking on areas of the scene to progress the dialog as well as repeat a set of dialogs in idle time. As for example clicking on her breasts won't get you futher in dialog but maybe results in a nice animation that gives you feedback on touching her breasts including a response from her. If you click on that penis you'll progress in the scene and next phase is triggered which maybe has again some additional trigger points to fire non-progress animations...

I personally prefer simple keyboard control - like pressing space to progress with the scene. I really don't like mini-games like mouse movement translating to the scene movement...

Cammay

i like the ide stage click too kind get tired som repeat screns.maby stag click one seen/done scren 3 times or somthing do that probly be more work

Thoka

i personally dont care for the click to progress button (kinda makes it more annoying to enjoy parts of the scene to fap) but i'd rather perfer just a stage click where you have arrows or options somewhere on the screen that get clicked to progress the scene to the next part

Also I think it should be noted that I find Casey’s walk speed to be a bit of an issue. She kind of just crawls to where ever you click. It takes like 15 seconds from the elevator to any point to Galaxy Pumps lobby and it’s not even a large area. I would be willing to watch most scenes all the way through multiple times if she just walked faster to them or if there was more to do on the way to the next scene. Like perhaps more options with the cell phone or perhaps shorter, more... foreshadowing, conversations on the way to the animation (something akin to Nikki standing outside of the bosses office during the dickfrog scene.) Maybe more ambient scene pieces to interact with but mostly I think the walk speed needs to be dialed up some. Anyway the game is spectacular and I’m always super excited for the next build.

I'm using a auto clicker to play. So, if there's no mini game planned, one button push is clearly enough. But another than the one used to skip text.

silverjunk

one click or arrows totally would prefer that.

Chia Nyx

PC maybe press like "E" or another key instead of clicking

Jaden

arrows

I second this idea. I like the clicking the first time. kinda exciting. but it get boring and repetitive fast if i am forced to click to see the same thing. Or maybe lessen the clicks a bit. the first time is OK, but i hoped to click less when i see the same scene the second time.

ippherita

Since I mostly care about reading the dialog, one click is right in my alley.

Add a skip scene button would be great, especially if it's a scene you might visit often. Then it's an option to skip scene with the button or keep clicking. Another option would be a mini game, like a balloon pop with multiple higher values of arousal so it's fewer click.

Maybe auto read but can adjust it in menu u know the speed if it's progressif or OS and u read it . . . .ect

honestly, the thought of the "eximent" meter is not a bad idea, it just need a makeover. Like an actual meter with visuals on how much longer it to fill up before he comes.

Toris Frendon

what about just holding the button and it progresses at a certain speed. that way you could stop whenever you want.

Cenarous

I like the old skip, where it would go with one click to the necessary part. Beside that, autoclicker is awesome for choosing how fast you want a scene to go even when there is clicking involved, so I recommend downloading it for anyone who has a problem clicking.

Archer

What if there is a slow medium and fast option. And automatically progresses.

Jason

Use the arrow keys or aswd to navigate them?

Speaking for myself here but I wouldn't mine just a 15-30(or longer if you feel so inclined) second scene that plays with a couple prompts to move it along if anything at all. Having to go through all the excitement scenes in the game to unlock all the content can be hell on my mouse hand.

J. LeClair

I tried this as I mentioned above - it works VERY different on different devices - on some you need to hover for 10 seconds to get 5-10 excitement, on the others you get 50 excitement in 0.5 seconds (meaning skipping all dialogues)

leave2gether

with one second holding = how much excitement? Usually dialogue changes every 12 units of excitement, so this holding should be fast enough on the one hand and slow enough not to skip big dialogues

leave2gether

Hover mouse on one spot maybe?

Maybe either shake the mouse or some type of minigame.

TastyToeBeans

One click!!

Bunny4

I suggest a click and hold option to build the excitement meter.
