BONUS EPISODE: "Human Highway"

Now here's an odd one (please send more of these our way!). One guy begged and begged and begged for you guys to vote for Neil Young's gonzo epic "Human Highway" and at last you guys made his dream come true. But seriously, though: What the hell is this?

Oh boy, the DEVO lore and Booji Boy. I don't think I'll get myself started on that 'cuz it'd be unnecessarily esoteric. But I will say that Booji was always a staple of their live encores, and here there's another Lynch connection: during their 1979 tour, one of the songs Booji Boy sang was "In Heaven" from Eraserhead.

On Six String Samurai- my friend who likes these kinds of aimless artsy movies put this one on at a movie marathon, and even he couldn't make it all the way through it. I got war flashbacks when Lina made the kid's "ahh" noise

Thank you, Song vs. Song and relentless Human Highway requester, for bringing me to this movie. I can't wait to rewatch it and look for little details that I missed. I know I'm going to end up talking to my friends about it whether they're interested or not, and I simply won't be able to help myself. I am 100% a convert. Seriously, thank you!!

I've never seen this movie but I've voted for it every poll for the last couple weeks. Now that I've seen it, I was not disappointed in my choice. What a movie, I think I kind of love it? (I was high during, so maybe that helps).

oxbow79

ha, same. But the fate of Annette and Lady Parts has put me off.

Albert Farkas

yay!!!!!!! been waiting on this one to win

For those who are curious to watch this movie, it’s readily available to stream on Neil’s Neil Young Archives website if you pay for a subscription, and I think it’s also just been included in his Archives Vol. III box set that just came out

In regards to the ending / rocket ship I am assuming the key to that lies in Dean Stockwell's writing credit. In the 60s he had a script for a movie called After the Goldrush that Neil famously wrote the soundtrack album for, despite the movie never getting made. The title track (main theme?) is about th end of the world and humanity escaping in a rocket ship. "Riding mother nature's silver seed to a new hole in the sun" and all that. I have always assumed this was the sorta realization of that project

Lucy Daughter of None

It's a Christmas miracle!

I don't know who actually nominated it, but I have been WEEPING in these comments for a year now...

Vince Whitacre

Perhaps I should resort to devastating persistence again. My strategy to win the poll is just request whatever and see if it gets any traction

Connor Rankin

BloodyM

You didn't make *his* dream come true.

Laura Robinson

To quote the Tenth Doctor - "And then there was patience". Well done in getting it finally reviewed. I'm looking forward to putting this one on.

Jim Brown

Yay finally

Sam

Hey! I'm "one guy!" Now TWO of my dreams have come true!

Vince Whitacre

Been waiting for this one ever since that person first suggested it. Congrats to them - your persistence paid off!
