We actually have a pretty decent slate of new films in 2020, but we've got nothing for this month, so I thought we'd circle back to 2019 and review one of the movies we missed. If you have any other suggestions of stuff you want to see reviewed, leave a comment and we'll consider it next time we have a slow month. But for now, here are a bunch of other, somewhat lesser known music movies that came out last year, and a brief description of them all:
The Dirt: The misfits of Mötley Crüe rise from the streets of Hollywood to the heights of international fame in the 1980s.
Her Smell: Becky Something (Elisabeth Moss) is a talented but self-destructive musician who seems determined to alienate everyone around her -- even at the cost of her own band's success.
Vox Lux: An unusual set of circumstances brings unexpected success to a pop star (Natalie Portman).
Teen Spirit: A shy teenager (Elle Fanning) dreams of escaping her small town and pursuing her passion to sing. With the help of an unlikely mentor, she enters a local singing competition that will test her integrity, talent and ambition.
Guava Island: On Guava Island, a local musician is determined to throw a festival for everyone to enjoy. A tropical thriller starring Donald Glover and Rihanna.
Wild Rose: Fresh out of prison, a Scottish woman juggles her job and two children while pursuing her dream of becoming a country music star. She soon gets her chance when she travels to Nashville, Tenn., on a life-changing journey to discover her true voice.
