My apologies, and what's next.

The Livestream: https://youtu.be/S89ggZVlG_o

Hey everyone, I'll be brief.

For the last two and a half months I’ve been trying several ways to continue the unbiased Roman narrative as closely as it was through the restrictions that inhibited it, I even more I wanted to improve my craft, I learned a bunch of new animation tricks, made improved higher res models, fully drawn maps and items, detailed scenes, and all sorts stuff I’ve meaning to try, better fires and son on.. But… The restrictions I had to work with on this video were so brutal for the kinds of videos I make that… I just couldn’t make anything I was happy with…

To slowly grow to hate the video you’ve spent so much effort into, to think several times its about to be finished, only to finally be honest with yourself, and realize most of it is neither funny, informative, engaging… yeah…  Since I was playing with new ways to things, I was plagued with infuriating technical bugs crippling whole sections of the video, and again and again had to remake them. Working non-stop at it, day after day, and after my SSD got a very rare bug, meaning I had to re-do like 35% of the video… which I thought was crap… For the fifth time… I stopped and asked myself: If I force myself to do this yet again, will I ever want to make videos again? And when my brain just began screaming curse words back at me… I knew I had lost. The video was a failure.

I didn't want to post videos that, tho relatively visually impressive, given previous standards,  i just didn't like them. Videos that had no soul.

What I realized was: I tried improving to many aspects of how I do things too fast. I’ve been killing myself making these 45 min documentaries one after the other. But most of all, my will to finish he unbiased Roman narrative in a way I liked was in direct opposition with the restrictions I had to work with on the setting it covered. These restrictions have been this massive ancor on my balls that has been crippling my mind and soul for too damn long, so thats I crushed them By doing this livestream

I wanted to provide closure for the roman narrative, it was important for me, I couldn't let go, and I hope it means something for others as well.

Its meant for everyone that’s watched the Two Unbiased Series on Rome and Byzantium. Having ended the roman narrative with it, I wanna both restore the old comedic fredoms I had by persuing other topics, and to try out new stuff man, lots on my mind.

Sorry for the inconvenience everyone, I know it’s not the upload you wanted to see.

Thanks for all the support, really needed it, you have no idea... And yeah, hopefully see you soon.

Any chance of seeing the uncensored islam video on bitchute or so, at least for the patrons? The byzantine series cuts off abruptly in the middle of the action after the defeat of sassaanids. Don't have a disappointing ending, please. Don't be a game of thrones :D

Štefan Rástocký

Why not use Bitchute or something? I understand if you are too burnt out to continue at this point, but if YouTube is the problem, let's eliminate that instead of your series. We, the audience, can also help spread your fame.

Ian

Hey Man, can you make the video as if it was not going on youtube? advertise it on youtube? make people donate here to see it? id kill to have the byzantine arch covered as well, no restriction, id go $50 a month to help you with that, im sure others would too. let us know exactly how much you would need to do the byzantine series, i suggest gofund me, so you can let us know how much you need to make it worth it. maybe we say "no way jose", maybe we say "thats it?". worth a try for sure, let us know how we can help you

Kevin Freeman

The dry sense of Humor you bring to your satire is unique. perhaps you can do unique bits of history and form a narration from a certain point of view, like alternate views of history! your work is awesome and you should keep going! Rage! Rage against the dying of the light.

Thyme

Unbiased history of the Caliphate would be funny, I'd really like to see the Unbiased History of Napoléon though.

LordDunk

Youtube can ban you for doing that sadly

FLAVIVS IVSTINIANVS

I'm personally hoping for unbiased christory of Chris Chan. We need to warn people about the dimensional merge.

weedobi

if he does chinese history, and gets to modern day, i am very very interested to see how he touches the topic of taiwan

mewzynn

Heart breaking, but you gave us a lot already. And the Byzantine speed run stream was a thing of intellectual marathon running that was lovely to see. Maybe, just maybe, you could perhaps come back one day in the future and do a standalone couple of episodes on east romans who fought/dealt with mostly non-muslims, so that way you can focus on the accepted practise of dunking on slavs (eg. Basil II's campaigns) or Normans (Alexios Komnenos fighting Normans then chaperoning crusaders as he restores lost land). Godspeed man, keep doing your thing!

Antreas Agathokleous

unbiased Islam would be based, unbiased china might get a bit repetetive

HoodMoneyShooter

cant believe i got legitimately attached to 2000 year old dead men by some memes, and just like everyone else im hoping for an unbiased china or islam

squishy

Maybe now would be a good time to finally do the Q&A that was planned for the end of the roman series

Ari Rubin

How would you feel about delegating certain rolls to others again like with Cutakita? Its just seems like this series is pretty stressful as a one man project. Also would you be willing to have a post on petrean asking for ideas for future videos/ series, than put the ones you like the most in a poll?

weedobi

Ave Dovah! Legit youre the best creator ever, even months you dont put out a video youve earned every shekel from my coffers as i love to rewatch the unbias history

DarthCoyster

We’re here for you Dovah. Just know It doesn’t matter what series it is, we are here to see the products you want to put out and feel good with. And hopefully if or when you feel up to it you may continue without feeling like you’re forcing yourself.

Garrett Ritch

Some advice. 1) Do your vids in parts (Part 1,2,3) your sanity will thank you. 2) Greek history is pretty epic (it's close to your source material) and you don't have any religions you have to tip toe for. I would jump on that. 3) Don't have too long of a stretch between uploading videos as YouTube viewers have short memories and will forget a channel (again focus of smaller parts rather then completing the entire video in one go). Keep up the great work, don't let this set back get to you. Happens to everyone

Peterson Chevalier

Sad to see youtube fucking you over like this. If you need a possible idea for what to do next I think Chinese history would be pretty based, especially considering Ancient Chinese historians also thought of outsiders as barbarians

Clarkycat

One day, it'll come to you. A way to make it great without the restrictions. And we will be treated to an amazing continuation of Byzantium. But we can wait and are looking forward to see what non-Roman stuff you have in mind (pls be Ancient Greece).

The end of an era

Chadvs Romanvs

While not what everyone wants to hear, it definitely was to he expected that the restrictions would bog you down. If its any consolation, I look forward to your next series, or one shot videos. For example, you could do one shot episodes on the likes of Brian Boru and his near conquest of Ireland into a single kingdom, or perhaps you could do a series on the Chinese Dynasties? That's bound to give you lots to work on. The Chinese had similar "everyone is a Barbarian" theme like the Romans, so it wouldn't change your form of content all that much.....though it would require a fuck ton of research on your part to pull that one off.

Merlin

sadly you couldn;t put the last 2 installments only on amore freer platform is very sad.or put them in a document like mega or goggle drive just share on patreon.

Robert Davis

All this said though it’s time for me to return to shilling for Unbiased History of England or France as I did long ago.

Anonymous Phoenix

You made Pure Gold with the rome series. Anything after that in my eyes is just extra value. Ave Dovah! May Sol bless you forever.

RagnarLodbrok

I was in all honesty a bit dissapointed at how it all turned out but I don't blame you. Political correctness destroys everything, even fun in the end. I hope one day you'll be able to finish these series in a proper way.

Stephanius Saccus

Take care of yourself Dovah. After all, we’re all here because of you. If you need time and thought and support, we are (or at least, I am) happy to oblige. Far as I’m concerned, you’re already an immortal artist for how much you’ve made me laugh over the past year and a half or so.
