Full vs. compressed
Added 2021-08-10 08:12:44 +0000 UTCAs the full version of the game is getting quite sizeable I only do a full version every 2nd release from now on. The quality difference is barely noticeable and probably not worth 10 times the size. I will also release update packages soon with new stories only which need to be copied in the game folder together with the updated scripts. I tried to package an automated update but it's unfortunately not reliable enough to publish.

These are very valid points. I will probably offer both. The full version and an update for the ones knowing what they are doing...thanks for the feedback...

Yes, the size is pretty large, but I think doing this will cause more headaches and more complaining than you're currently getting about the file size. The reason most developers don't use patches is because many people are too tech illiterate to use them. Trying to get people to manually copy scripts and images to various folders will likely end up with lots of errors and a poor user experience that will be much worse than the complaints about file size. There will always be people complaining about something no matter what you do or how you attempt to appease them. If you're happy with the game overall, that's what's most important. Keep things as simple as possible and you'll be able to focus more on creating content and not supporting an endless litany of coding errors caused by files being in the wrong place.
