ahh finally got to watch this reaction! 1. I loved the first episode personally and when it first dropped that wasn't the popular opinion but I think it was a beautiful way to show us how Carmy got to where he is. It also in my opinion shows how cooking is a double-edged sword for Carmy. It can help him stay focused and have a purpose but he also uses so much of a distraction that he shuts off everything else around him which is a theme throughout the season 2. Chris worked for the Bear when Michael ran it and was the guy we saw in season 1 who gave meat to Carmy for the jeans he traded. The guy who plays him is the owner of the real-life Beef in Chicago and whose life story inspired some of the show. I thought it was cool that they brought him back to have a few scenes this season 3.I also love Pete. I get why the people in her family don't love him. Their family is messy and loud and chaotic and constantly changing jobs to survive, or has their very own mob boss essentially, and here comes in this straight-laced guy with as far as we know has no issues with his family and has a cushy job as a lawyer. However I think that's exactly what sugar needs. She needed someone different and didn't have an insane amount of baggage to in a way ground her from her stuff and I'm glad she has Pete. 4. it's never really explicitly expressed but the house for sale was his mom's. I believe that Marcus lives somewhere with his roommate whom we've met a few times but as his mom got more and more sick he mostly stayed with her. 5. I agree I don't think John Cena worked here and the choice felt odd. I don't know if it's because it's still hard for me to see John as an actor or if like maybe the other celeb guest actors have stronger acting chops but it took me out of the universe. and yeah idk I know Matty doesn't want to play a chef but it felt like they didn't know what to do with Fak now that they have a whole new building with no problems. It felt like they dumbed him down a bunch this season and I still don't know how I feel about that. My opinion of this season is a lot more positive than others but I do feel like it's the weakest of the seasons. That being said I still really enjoyed the season and can't wait for the rest of your reactions!

i really like pete 😭 and would much rather have a pete in my life than a carmy or a richie (as much as i love them and adore watching them) - if natalie had married anyone remotely like her family i fear her head would've exploded and i love pete for her

I really could not care less about Clare or her relationship with Carmy lol it removes us from the restaurant but not in a way that feels natural or organic at all (unlike Tina and her experiences at school or Marcus and his journey in Copenhagen or Richie and his growth)

I like Pete too!!

The whole of season 3 was an interesting experience that I still am processing emotion wise. Still a great show and I think it was intentional to leave the audience feeling mixed emotions to reflect the characters and their feelings

It was also so awesome to see big names from de industry like Daniel Boulud (showing him how to tie chicken), Rene Redzepi from Noma, Thomas Keller from French Laundry, etc.

That first episode was beautiful (if you have worked in fine dining (hi 🙋🏽‍♀️ also a pastry chef) you can appreciate even more), the food shots... wow! But is also a flashback showing us how and why Carmy is the way he is. What got him to "today".
