these were alot of fun :)

i'd love for you to react to the hobbit trilogy, people wanna compare them two all the time, but i think thats kinda unfair. nothing can ever top lotr, and expecting the hobbit trilogy to compare is just impossible, i for myself really enjoy the hobbit films and at this point actually habe rewatched them the most! i guess they are the more ''easy digestible'' movies, but by no means any less meaningful and they actually have some of my favorite characters of that universe, and also since legolas is your fav he is in those too :) should you get to them stay for the credit song for the second movie, it has a (and imo his best ever) ed sheeran song made for the movie in it

Loved watching every single second of these movies and your reaction to it!

The ending of these always makes me cry. I've seen this movie probably 50 times and it still gets me. I'm also still always so creeped out by Shelob (the giant spider). I still have to look away for most of the time she's on screen. I feel like we have very similar taste in our favourites in things. Legolas has been my favourite character in LOTR from my first reading of the book (we even had a long debate in my high school english class of him vs Aragorn during one of those last days before Christmas when no one's there) and JK is my ultimate bias, not just of BTS but of kpop and probably just music in general. I'm so glad you loved these movies. They hold such a special place in my heart as they helped my strengthen and form some of my greatest friendships in my teen years. The day before ROTK came out my Dad took myself and my two best friends out of high school and the theater played the extended cut of the first two movies. Then at 11pm, an hour before the midnight screenings started, they played ROTK so we were among the first people to see it. It was 15 hours in the theater but its one of my most treasured memories. Thank you so much for going into these with an open mind and always showing such insightful thoughts and such care to the things you react to

I loved these videos so much!!! I forget just how good they are until I rewatch again. You’re right, you can see the widespread influence of this story and the movies as well across so much other media. Fantasy in general but specifically Harry Potter and GOT, you can see how much was born from Lord of the Rings. The war on many fronts with so many players, I can’t think of two stories that do it as well as LOTR and GOT, for the most part. I mean it’s why his name is George R R Martin, right? just like J R R Tolkien author of LOTR. The lore is so deep and insanely detailed. I’ve watched the BTS and documentary stuff on LOTR movies and I truly don’t think we’ll see a feat quite like it again. All three movies filmed simultaneously, the bonds created between the cast over 14 months, the sets, the costuming, the score, the practical effects, every scene sketched out and years of work before even being on set. It was truly magical work. I don’t think companies would put their money on a simultaneous trilogy like that anymore. Also, I personally really enjoy The Hobbit movies. I think a lot of LOTR purists do not like them which is totally fine. But I think they are a good adaptation of the book and a lot of fun, still beautiful and still sound great. There was stuff added to pad out the story but reading the book it feels like the story is very condensed and will cut away when you could be showing more of the story, so I thought it made sense for the films. They are not as good or faithful as LOTR but LOTR is a masterpiece so it’s easy not to meet that expectation. I love them in a different way despite being less consistent through to the end of the story. Whether you do them as a reaction or not, I’d still recommend a watch. A lot more music in hobbit though (true to the book)!!!

It's been a while since I've watched these movies. I love them so much, but they're a major time commitment and I just can't bring myself to watch the shorter versions. It's been fun rewatching with you and seeing you experience the magic of these movies.

Okay I’m done watching. I wish I could comment on every question and answer some stuff but it’s easier irl 😅 honestly there’s so many iconic characters in these movies and it’s hard for me to pick favorites because I love them all and the different dynamics between each character as well! Can’t imagine anyone else playing these roles so I for one am not going to watch the remakes 😝

Loved your reactions to the wonderful movies. The story, the acting, effects, soundtrack. All fantastic. And yes, “You bow to no one” gets me every time.

Sposs

yay watching now!

I’m excited to watch this final masterpiece with you😄 I’ve been in love since I watched the first one back when it was released and I was only 11/12 years old❤️and I always cry at the end, even tho I’ve seen them a million times 😭 I would love to see you react to the hobbit movies as well, and yes the extended versions because why settle for less when you can have more ? 😄 I love the hobbit equally as much even tho it seems it’s divided amongst people 😅

*spoilery* * * * Thank you for finally watching these movies! I know folks have been asking for a long time and I really appreciate it. As for the Hobbit films, I think the theatrical release of the second movie is better than the extended. Just a suggestion; I'm curious what the other folks think. Can we talk for a minute about how progressive this story is? Theoden asks Eowyn to be his successor, even though her brother Eomer is completely capable. And then she slays the Witch King? This book was written in the 1950s! I think the reason Frodo keeps showing pity to Smeagol is that Frodo sees himself in Smeagol, another hobbit who has been totally destroyed by the ring. Your J.C. Penney line killed me. 😂 I would love for you to watch Goonies sometime. It's a clear influence on Stranger Things and has baby Sean Astin, baby Ke Huy Quan, and baby Josh Brolin! If you loved Sean Astin as Sam, you'll love him as Mikey.

Christopher Lee was not pleased that his big scene was cut from the theatrical version. Yes! The mouth at the gate of Mordor was cut from the theatrical version. In the theatrical version, it does not come across that they think Frodo is dead like it does here. It makes the charge even more significant because they believe they have already lost.

It was such a joy to watch these with you! Frodo never truly recovered from the stab of the Ringwraith's blade he got back at the first movie, that's why he leaves at the end here. This was my first time watching the extended version and the significant scenes I can think of that weren't added to the cinematic version were: - Saruman's death (which why!? who decided to cut that off? he just ceased to appear in the movie) - When Aragorn goes to the dead and asks them if they'll join, in the cinematic version we don't see an answer and the next scene we get them is were they get off the boats and suddenly they have the army of the dead with them. - This one may be my faulty memory, but I don't remember Aragorn showing Sauron the sword through the magic 8 ball thingy before going to Mordor. - I also don't remember the teeth guy monstrosity that receives them in Mordor. Oh and the cinematic version does have that end scene with Frodo, Bilbo and co. leaving

Mariana

Agreed! I can’t claim they’re as good, but they’re still so much fun and I adore them! Thranduil stan for life. 😂

Kelsie Brake

I agree, I absolutely love them! I’d love for him to react to it!

Can’t wait to watch this when I get home from work!!! I don’t know if you mention The Hobbit movies or not in this video, but I would LOVE to see you react to them. They are a totally different vibe from LOTR but they are near and dear to my heart. 😊😊😊 I know they get a lot of hate and I don’t think its deserved - they’re great in their own way.
