2025.06.19 - Milestones and the Unusual Methods

This last week, we passed a bit of a milestone. There was a particularly difficult animation that we have been trying to get to look a certain way, and we kept hitting the wall in finding an adequate solution. After trying out a number of different solutions, we ended up settling on one that was, in the final analysis, the better way to go. I would like to say that we had simply crossed the streams, reversed the polarity, and re-reticulated all of the splines to get the job done, but in the end it was just good old teamwork and brainstorming between the artists. I’m pretty happy with the result; you will be ecstatic about it.

While a lot of the render work was coming along nicely, getting this major animation done was a major hurdle to overcome, and I’m kinda relieved that this particular task can be checked off the list. There are a lot more animations to go, but this was - in all honestly - one of our first really involved ones.

As well, there are only a few more revised scripts to go before everything gets assembled by the coder and sent off for evaluation [via the usual magical methods: wood, bronze, iron, water, fire, and stone] by the good and true friends at the Narnian Doorkickers Local 77. Some call them ‘playtesters’, but those of us in the know, know better.

Next week, we’ll address something old.

Here’s two lovely pictures to get your day started off right.
