Update - October 28, 2024

One of the coolest things about reImagining this game is watching the different ways the game is being made differently. Mostly, SteveIR is re-rendering the old images using new assets pretty much as they were [and believe me, as good as they looked before, they are a vast improvement now], but when he uses his fantastic flexibility to rey something new, he pretty much hits a homerun every single time. 

When I watch what Riam does to create and then test out the intuitive and more enjoyable ways to follow a quest without it turning into a grind, I find that he’s solving a problem that I pretty much assumed was unsolvable. And he continually does that, over and over. 

When I listen to the rather complicated music that Jefferson has created, partially based on the previous game’s theme, I can hear all of the new things he has expanded on to make the sound of the game richer, more vast, and - dare I say - more epic.

Then there’s me. I smoosh words together for a living, and I am hoping that you guys like the stories and plots I have planned. It all goes so much further than the original game did. Is it darker and a little less innocent? In most instances, yes. Is it still playful and funny? Gosh, I hope so. 

So, we’re still chipping away at all the parts of the game that aren’t  Princess on the Run, and it often feels like fine-tuning. Like Michelangelo creating the statue David from a discarded block of marble, we’re trying to create something beautiful out of an abandoned thing. While it would be stupid and disingenuous of us here at One Hand Clapping to claim that we’re in it only to create beauty, it’s often true that financial reward often follows creating something genuinely enjoyable and interesting. That’s what we’re hoping for. 

I’m going to try and post every week, even if there isn’t a lot to say. Of course, when the pieces are start fitting pieces together seamlessly, there is going to be a lot more to talk about.
