I think part of why right/heterodox shows are so sycophantic is because their audience likes it. A lot of people dont want to hear journalists asking tough questions. They read it as being annoying smart arses. At least that is what people who I know who listen to them say. And I think the 5th Columb people talking about messages they got and it being "annoying" to listen to suggests their audience has some of that too.
