Bonus Feed Content

Just a quick question...
We originally had the bonus feed reserved for BONUS content. This meant the Gurometer episodes, full unedited interviews, early releases of episodes, Decoding Academia, and other stuff like the conversation on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
We did not reproduce the content on the main feed- mainly the Decoding Episodes and edited interviews- because we assumed people would prefer to keep only bonus stuff on the bonus feed.
However, since several people have requested the recent Dr. K Gurometer episode to be posted on the bonus feed, despite it being released as a preview on the main feed, it made me wonder. What would people prefer, so I thought a poll might help!
So, please vote below for what you would like to see on the bonus feed.

Plus one for all content on bonus, audio only. The Dominion review (crossover between my two favorite podcasts!) still isn't out as audio and I don't watch video longer than five minutes 🙂.

2024-10-08 16:59:11 +0000 UTCLikewise also very confused by the feeds. I just signed up. The main feed "Decoding the Gurus" should have everything free in it (and sometimes some previews). The Galaxy Brain Edition should just have the stuff that is available for Patreons. Separate it out a bit more. It's quite hard to find things.

This is the only podcast I support financially because it offers such helpful orientation to all the others, plus it's very fun and genuine. I miss the original style episodes which included banter, guests, and postgame analysis all in one long stream. I took my time in happily listening to the entirety. Now I'm figuring out the piecemeal delivery you've adopted. No matter what, I'll stick with you. But you asked.

And with obvious names like "EA title" (early access) and then if relevant a "edited / no ads public release title" so we don't listen to sort of the same thing twice, and we can decide if we want the early non edited version (minimal edited?) or the "final cut" version later, but we're not trying to match completely different names / pics / description.

2024-10-08 12:15:10 +0000 UTCI'm always confused when something drops, no matter on which feed, because I never know if it's a clip of something I've already listened to or an audio/video version of something I've already watched or heard, so I don't care either way. For me that's the special appeal of DtG. (By the way, as I do a lot more listening than watching, I convert video to audio a lot, so I don't care if everything is released additionally as audio, either.)

I'm very confused about what the question actually is now! If there's only a preview on the main feed, and nothing on the bonus feed, how do we listen to the whole Gurometer episode?

Commenting beyond my vote because I actually thought that was how things were, and now I need to go back to the public fed to see if I’ve missed anything! :) Also, I rarely watch the videos as I’m more of an audio person, and I thought they all had a podcast release, too. The dr k gurometer makes me wonder if that is the case.

I'll put my preference in simple terms: I like the podcast link that has the "Galaxy Brain" picture, and the one that has the regular DtG picture. I like that both of them show up and I just choose the Patreon one because it is longer. Whatever you decide, I'm happy to listen!

I'll happily do the encoding and uploading for you if give me access!) In the meantime, top tech tip: access YouTube via Firefox on android (no idea about ios). Click 'desktop mode' in menu. Now you can multitask / turn screen off and audio continues. Add ublock origin (Firefox Android has Plugins just like desktop) and you've basically got YouTube premium.

2024-10-08 01:36:07 +0000 UTCA couple of tech podcasts that I subscribe to have a separate feed for subscribers of some kind and the standard feed. If you add the link to the bonus content to your podcast player of choice you can unsubscribe from the regular public feed because they put all of the content on the bonus feed. It reduces the number of shows you see in your podcast player and makes a lot of sense in practice.

Matt has been pushing his own brand of fully automated gay space communism for too long, it’s time we see how the master did it.
