Chris and Matt have a (PREPRINT!) paper

I thought some of you might find this interesting.

Matt and I have submitted our first joint paper based on a study I designed and ran, and Matt helped to analyse.

It's about ritual intuitions and collective action problems cross-culturally. You can find the preprint available at the link if interested.

And don't worry that Gurus paper is still coming! This was one of the things in the way.

By the way, I had an absurd thought while reading this of someone creating a video game based on these different scenarios and ritual actions.

I read the rest of the paper, though I struggled mightily with the stastical parts. I was surprised by the dominance of doctrinal and fiesta rituals, but it made sense when you pointed out that these four societies are industrialized. I was not surprised that younger participants were more likely to pick the imagistic rituals. One thing that interested me, was how in Table 12, Japan listed divination rituals in three of the scenarios, ranked as a third choice, while the other nations only chose divination once but ranked it second. It seems like you have provided a good basis for other researchers to work from. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Thank you for sharing. I just had time to read the abstract, and it looks like a fascinating study. I had to laugh when I saw the words Supplemental Materials!!

Congrats! Re "and to examine whether the patterns observed in our UK and US data are replicated in other monotheistic cultural contexts" - for future would be good to get a Muslim country in the mix. Maybe somewhere relatively developed and with a mostly secular, democratic(ish) politics, like Turkey for e.g?
