The Confluence of the Gurusphere *Audio*
Added 2023-06-16 09:08:24 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
Some bonus content.
Matt and I discuss our thoughts relating to how often the gurus paths seem to overlap and what drives this week. Just this week you have crossovers between Jordan Peterson & James Lindsay, Jonathan Pageau & Jordan Hall, Lex Fridman & Matthew McConaughey, and RFK Jnr & Joe Rogan.
Some of these are ideological bedfellows but others are a bit more surprising. In any case, we thought we'd share with you guys some of our ideas about the topic.
Enjoy!

Maybe the Guru-sphere works a bit like offshore wealth as a complex system ! https://www.preposterousuniverse.com/podcast/2023/05/22/237-brooke-harrington-on-offshore-wealth-as-a-complex-system/

2023-06-21 19:18:25 +0000 UTCThis episode was a lot of fun. I love it when Chris really gets stuck in. It's like all the things I want to say, but I just can't get my thougts coherent enough to say out loud with clarity. So cathartic.

2023-06-20 08:33:15 +0000 UTCThis has been done! I'll have to dig for it, but there's a paper out there somewhere showing a network analysis approach to JRE and right-wing extremists

2023-06-19 19:17:32 +0000 UTCFun episode:-) Re. names. How about the DTG quicky? Although probably none else would call an hour quick. Hmm DTG chats? Ponderings on the gurusphere? Chris's gossitherapy hour?

2023-06-19 01:39:20 +0000 UTCGreat episode! Also, as a completely unrelated aside, I think James Lindsay describing how he had a real fourth degree black belt in karate, “not of these children’s black belts,” during his most recent Jordan Peterson podcast appearance would make for a great clip for Patreon shout outs. 😄

2023-06-17 13:43:39 +0000 UTCWe have repeatedly mentioned Bob in regards his stance in Ukraine and raised it directly with him on our episode with him. However, I don’t think Bob’s apologetics are particularly new, they are more a function of his long term ideology which primarily focuses on the West. He’s basically like a lot of anti-imperialist folk in this regard.

2023-06-17 13:33:46 +0000 UTCHow this happened that you've stressed multiple times how all gurus coalesce around the idea that war in Ukraine is everyones fault except Russia's, and conveniently (not the first time) failed to mention your most beloved guru, self proclaimed international law expert, one and only who can wield cognitive empathy wand, son of Buddha, Rober Wright? Guys, I love you and what you are doing, I actually loved Wright also until he became unbearable vatnik, but you should push harder on your friends that went bonkers, not only demand this from, let's say Harris.

2023-06-17 13:27:51 +0000 UTCOMG! Could it be that you guys somehow are inadvertently causing this cosmic guru mælstrom? Please take note before it’s too late!

2023-06-16 16:02:04 +0000 UTCI'd love to see somebody with more skill and patience than I formally undertake a social network analysis of the socio-political podcasting sphere.
