Thought some of you might enjoy this guest appearance on Shane Mauss' comedy/science themed podcast.
We recorded it a few months ago but it just came out now. Was a nice chilled conversation and I tried to retreading the topics Matt covered during his appearance a few weeks before.

Chris was amazing as usual. I can’t believe the other guy has any science background. He talks like he is stoned and doesn’t finish most his sentences and cuts off Chris a lot

2022-04-30 20:19:05 +0000 UTCI don't know about Bret, don't listen to him. TWIV is just one of many sources BUT Ralph Baric is undeniably the world expert on coronaviruses and he has said multiple times lab leak is a possible origin. He has financial and scientific ties to WIV and still says this.

My brain just likes to argue with you even though I agree that Bret is wrong and TWiV is the way to go but my guess is that if Bret never once claimed it was confirmed lab origin and just dropped strategic disclaimers about how “oh well it could be zoonotic but” and then went on the rest of the show that talking about lab leak you would still criticize that (for good reason) so giving lip service to the other view or not explicitly claiming that your side is 100% confirmed is not the same as avoiding extreme claims/overstating your evidence. In other words, I guess your justification for listening to TWiV just struck me as inherently hypocritical despite my agreement with you about all the facts.

2022-04-21 22:50:39 +0000 UTCAs a fellow fan of TWIV you can listen to Ralph Baric's interviews starting in Jan 2020 and he never once says it is a confirmed zoonotic origin. He leaves open the possibility of a lab leak. Could be many years before it is confirmed either way.
