Upcoming Release Schedule

I'm sure you understand by now how tentative our planned release schedule is because it largely depends on editing timeframes which can be unpredictable and we might sub in some randoms if we need to.

Nevertheless, here is our aspirational plan for the next few weeks in order of release:

1. Julian Walker Interview (60-70% edited, this week)
2. Elgen Strait Interview (this week or next week)
3. Reverend Moon Decoding episode w/ Elgen Strait (this week or next week)
4. Timbah on Toast Interview
5. Very Bad Gurus

As the previous note mentioned we are also gearing up for a mini-season of tech gurus, which so far will include some of, if not all of, the following:

6. Jaron Lanier
7. Naval Ravikant
8. Lex Fridman
9. Elon Musk (?)
10. Balaji Srinivasan (?)

Special episodes that we are thinking about doing are:

- InfoHorse: A comparison of the rhetoric used on InfoWars & DarkHorse
- Ukraine Idiocy: A whirlwind tour of how the gurusphere is responding to the outbreak of war

Interviews that are planned but have not yet been scheduled yet are:

- Michael Inzlicht on the Replication Crisis, McMindfulness, & whether we can trust Psychology research.
- Rebecca Lewis on her research on disinformation and the Alternative Influencers Network.
- The Steak Umms Twitter account person on conspiracy misinformation, brand accounts, & weird Twitter.
- David Fuller with his Guru right to reply and the problems with sensemaking.
- Robert Wright with his Guru right to reply and (possibly) disagreements over Ukraine & Syria conspiracies.

If you're considering a Psychedelic Guru episode, you might want to check out the "Power Trip" episodes of the "Cover Story" podcast. Explores the dark side.

TheRick

Will ask him!

Christopher Kavanagh

Thanks for the suggestions!

Christopher Kavanagh

Not a bad idea!

Christopher Kavanagh

I think of a new one every day

Robert Roots

It got me thinking about other possible series, Psychedelic Gurus being the first that was obvious to me. An episode on past gurus such as Tim Leary and Terrence McKenna, and through to a figure like Merlin Sheldrake who is potentially a psychedelic guru just budding

Robert Roots

Tech gurus sounds great!

Robert Roots

I'm excited for the Tech Gurus! Please do Elon Musk. Perhaps exploring "longtermism" as a philosophy behind where he focuses his money and interest? A print interview with him: https://aeon.co/essays/elon-musk-puts-his-case-for-a-multi-planet-civilisation How I found the prior, an article on the concept itself. https://aeon.co/essays/why-longtermism-is-the-worlds-most-dangerous-secular-credo

Chelsea Tremblay

I would love to hear Matt explain the difference between rhetoric and substantive argumentation. He mentions this a few times but I’ve never heard it fully explained. Maybe I’m missing it but it would be a good exposition IMO.

Ryan

So few gurus. So much time.

Geoff Fitch

Great idea to cover the tech gurus! Balaji and Naval Ravikant are perfect candidates, especially Balaji, who loves to give hot takes one after the other.

Martin Pelchat

Ah yeah… we will get to him.

Christopher Kavanagh

What happened to Daniel Schmachtenberger? C'mon you pansies.

Geoff Fitch

This is awesome, thanks for all your work on this hobby. This is truly a great lineup of episodes.

Jaron Lanier,Lex Fridman,Elon Musk, all good. But my lust for more Dark Horse debunking is apparently insatiable. Owing to my initial interest in the Weinsteins I suppose. Payback for being lulled into Heather’s whispery BS and Bret and Eric’s “logic”. Looking forward to it.

Rod Hodges

Have you listen to the chameleon: wild boys podcast? It’s like the making of a guru and it’s a surprising arc. I’m not saying that you should do an episode but that you might find this really compelling.

JGraves

Sounds great. I think Balaji Srinivasan is more intersting as a guru than Elon Musk and also Fridman

Kai

My partner listens to Lex Fridman. Looking forward to a DTG date night!

Stephanie

Elon musk, yes please.

Recalcitrant Goat

If you choose Musk, you can always do one of Lex's interviews with him as a double feature.

Adam Session

hell yeah, steak-umms

anna_has_maps

All looks very interesting, will be fascinated to see the possible parallels between infowars and DarkHorse.

Louise

Fuller and Infohorse sound good 👍🏼

Allan Hutton

Excited for the Reverend Moon one. I think it's a good idea to have some decoding episodes on Gurus who are not controversially considered a guru.
