Welcome to Weinstein World with David Pizarro *UNEDITED*

*Audio clips now play in video*

Hey guys,

A special treat a surprise 'Very Bad Wizards' & 'Decoding the Gurus' crossover event in which the psychologist, ghost skeptic, and podcasting legend, David Pizarro, joins us for a postmodern jaunt through 'Weinstein World'.

The discussion meanders, we get lost in the weeds but hope you guys enjoy it. The intro is around 30 minutes long and we have not made any edits so be forewarned. We also can't resist some mutual back patting... sorry, but we are sometimes human!

Hope you enjoy!

P.S. Sorry you can't hear the clips! Did not think about that at time of recording but it will be in the audio version, obviously...

P.P.S. Found a way to add the clip audio into the video file will be re-uploading and adjusting the link ASAP.

Comments

Currently listening to Heying and Weinstein on "The Unspeakable" podcast and am just screaming in my apartment alone... Weinstein attributing everything to an adaptation responding to environmental conditions is truly infuriating. I don't understand how he doesn't acknowledge stochasticity in the evolutionary process. What. A. Hack. ***rant ended***

More overlap with the vbw guys is never a bad thing.... Sam harris next? ;)

Ian Boese

One of the best ones! Hope for more crossover episodes with the wizards

Kári Gautason

I never want it to end!!!!

Andrew Demos

I always giggle when I hear about the FUD because that word means something very different in Scotland! Eric certainly is one 😬

Fraser McMillan

If you minimise the video window it will still play with the screen lock. Although you have to play button again from Lock Screen.

Rob Franks

I feel validated. The word sensemaking is straight up annoying af. I make the people who use it repeat the sentence in my head, subbing in ‘lovemaking’ or ‘muffinmaking’ or whatever else occurs to me. The more self-serious they are, the more satisfyingly lol it is. :)

Heather Geverding

Really enjoyed this one, especially because of all the things Matt said that I agree with. :)

The string of luminaries continues. It occurs to me Jay Shapiro might be another good guest to interview - see https://whatjaythinks.com/essays/2021/1/28/be-careful-in-the-dark, https://voidpod.com/podcasts/2021/3/4/ev-182-de-escalating-the-culture-war-with-jay-shapiro.

Will try to get audio uploaded shortly, not sure if that will work but edited audio will be ready in a couple of days.

Christopher Kavanagh

Is there a way to just listen? Was looking forward to listen to you guys on a walk but everytime I locked the phone the audio stopped.

mobitobi

The extracts from Sam Harris and other podcasts were not on the audio track; just a lot of weird silence.

Frederic Dumont

Yeah none of them can! Realised after recording. Should have popped headphones out, recorded in the audio format though.

Christopher Kavanagh

Just wanted to point out for future episodes that the Sam Harris clip could not be heard in the video

MaxPlan

This is great another of my favorite podcasts
