Actually was talking abut this today. I'm going to hunt it out and will provide the time stamp.

I'm trying to find my way back to something Chris mentioned -- I'm fairly sure it was in the discussion with RW. You mentioned Brett on Joe Rogan pushing a cheesy before-after set of pictures as evidence for something and Joe really praising it. Is this video clipped and posted anywhere? It just seems like it should be so daming for Rogan and I'd like to help make sure it gets viewed as much as possible...

Tom Allison

He just prefers his conspiracy theories in a more 'hypothesized' format.

No worries but would appreciate more details! No need to sugarcoat, we can take it.

Christopher Kavanagh

Enjoyed the first half of this, but had to shut it off at the pseudoscience "evolution" talk in the middle. I know my standards are high, but it was fairly cringe from a professional POV. Will try to finish later in the week though.

I dunno, there is quite a lot of humor in their interactions. Mickey Kaus’ political opinions are a fairly frequent subject of derision.

Christopher Kavanagh

I went to listen to Robert’s bloggingheads tv podcast with Mickey Kaus, who 15+ years ago was widely satirized as among the dumbest people on the internet. He hasn’t changed much. (see Sadly, No! And search entries for Mickey; there’s a lot). Robert doesn’t do himself much good arguing with an empty vessel.

Robert seems like a nice guy, but his strange defense of Aaron Mate made me wonder when we can stop steelmanning someone's argument and start understanding that they just push out consistent misinformation. With some people, like the grayzone guys, its not just a different point of view, it's just straight up false or misleading. Something else I've noticed with certain alternative media types is that they can often accurately explain issues with MSM (although idk how much I agree that MSM is just totally off the rails like Robert seems to think), but then fail to fully take that criticism to alternative media people. They're just so quick to say "CNN got it wrong here, MSNBC totally missed this story" but then say "well I don't know, Pim Toole could be right if you totally ignore all this and assume x, y, and z are true." IDK if Robert really goes that far or likes Tim Poole, it's just a strange dynamic I see. Also something I wish the guys had brought up during the Bret discussion was that it's not just that Bret is pushing Ivermectin, it's that he has the education and ability to know better. He should know how meta-analysis doesn't magically turn dogshit studies into gold. He should know the importance of good research design and know how differentiate between good and bad designs. It felt like Bob thought the problem wasn't that bad because Bret was just trying to get more attention to a potentially good drug, but Bret was specifically backing shitty studies and bad statistics to push Ivermectin.

Great crossover. i'm glad you discussed the lack of (non-faux) self - deprecation and humour as red flags...the incessant self- important pomposity of the Whinestein clips are hard -going for a Scot as well...

Brainbiter

Yes it is currently being edited!

Christopher Kavanagh
