The American Military Built a Ghetto In the Pacific
Added 2024-03-16 18:00:05 +0000 UTCI wasn't quite sure how to write this story, nor what we should include and leave out. This is a story about America, but it's bigger than America. It's a story about Ebeye, but it's bigger than Ebeye too. But I suppose every story needs a start and an end, and I hope you're happy with what we came up with. It was important to us that we do this one as well as we could.
Ebeye was a strange place to visit, especially as Non-Americans. You land on Kwajalein, but because it's a military base, you immediately get deported in a sense. We were put into a K9 bus (which was comical) and were driven directly to the ferry terminal so that we could continue on to Ebeye.

I know it's a Rare Earth gem where after pausing to read the credits, I have to take a good long thinking walk. I had coworkers go to parts of the Pacific including Majuro and Chuuk, and that whole like QUARTERish of the planet is still so alien to me. Both of you are doing incredible work by bringing forward these truths and putting more eyes and ears to the overlooked corners of our world.
