HONK! It's a video about klaxons!

HONK!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adD5oC2asXI

This video is much silly. Lots honking. No effort!

Just to warn you, there's a loud noise near the 3:14 mark, though there is an on-screen warning as well.

And also, since my scheduling brain-parts have been fired up enough today to make any sense, CED part 4 is probably gonna be the video after the next. I figured I would have a little more time to write in the coming week than I do, so... oops!

In any case, I hope you enjoy this silly little pile of nonsense!

Installed this klaxon in my house - hooked it to the old servant's call bell ! Works really well -- but I am a purist -- It has a great "OOH" in the middle, but weak "AHOO" at beginning and weak "GAA" at end of cycle (I know this sounds OCD -- but hey we are watching you paint xmas bulbs -- so I figure I am in good company) here it is (video I sent to some good pals): https://youtu.be/7LARsgV-G_M Has anyone found a better modern klaxon? I am already looking for antique klaxons on ebay Cheers all, Eric

Steve Mould (science Youtuber) just released a video pointing to your channel: https://youtu.be/BP6Mrjj1h64

Marcel de Jong

call me silly... but was your camera not completely level?

Paul Schuur

Comedic relief was on point this time around!

The same effect I see when we drive through Zürich with the old trams (streetcars) from the 1890s - 1940s era ;-)

I don't know how it is in the Americas, but here in Europe, there are some traffic laws about car horns. One at least says that it's not allowed to have multiple tones alternating, because they are reserved for special vehicles (police, fire trucks, ambulance, and here in Switzerland also busses on some mountain roads). I have no idea about these "Klaxon" type of horns.

Will watch ASAP! Still want an aircraft carrier whaling horn "whoop whoop whoop " on my car. In including the decibels 😜

And I paid cash and I told the guy "don't ask why I'm getting two"

I drive a 1930 Ford Model A and when people see it in regular traffic, they already start smiling. Then when I honk the horn, that's the real cherry on top! You can literally see all their worries fall off their shoulders. It's fantastic.

Now I'm definitely going to install one into my Leaf.

Honk!

A $10 very loud klaxon horn? Looks like you've been to Harbor Freight...

Definitely my favourite video from No Effort November. And I think you got closer to the “no effort” target this time, as it seemed more spontaneous and “small detail you probably never thought about”:-) Ewen

Could you imagine doing this video if you still filmed in your condo? What your neighbours would think about AWOOOOGHA

Ian Spence

You had me at ahooga. Bought mine. 😆

There's a lot of depth to this once you get away from cars too. Trains have a whole series of horns in various note combinations and some weirdos get really passionate about it. The hunch you were on about a "minor chord" being more noticeable is very true, trains take advantage of this all the time with dominant 7 chords, minor 7th, sometimes even dominant 9 chords (five horns altogether). Of course that would be overkill on a car; trains need to signal for miles.

Justin Tokke

Music Theory nitpick: two notes is not a chord, just a harmonic interval. You need at least 3 notes for it to be labeled a chord. I'm sure 99% of viewers won't notice though.

Gary Horn - Sponge Bob fan?

Cars don't do AC!

Vegasguy

Of cause the big honk is at 3.14 😂

Simon Mikkelsen

a few scene's had me in stitches, love the humour in this video

Paul Fisher

Dude, you crack me up. Thanks!

But I'm not putting one on my Tesla...

Big Car

Nicely silly. And car related! I approve.

Big Car

But where’s the part about 50/60 Hz AC vibrating reed klaxons? Those have a much better tonality!

WizardTim

Fun fact: In Polish, modern car horns are still called “klakson”s.
