Behind the Scenes! Kit List 2019 (so far, anyway)

It's been a while since I've made a BTS video. And today (well, yesterday, I got sidetracked) I figured I'd gather up all of my stuff and show it to you in one video!

This may be entirely uninteresting... though I've enjoyed seeing similar things from others. Hopefully this tickles your fancy!

A word of warning; Audio and video are real bad when I was using the front-facing camera. I have no idea why the audio is so terrible only for the front-facing camera, as you'd think it could use the same mics, but apparently it doesn't and/or it applies some strange compression.

Have you tried a trackball? I highly recommend them.

Is Panasonic trying to sell the S1(R) by attracting micro 4/3 users (especially youtubers) to the system, then letting the youtubers sell it to new camera users?

Wrenly Bewick

Yeah, the new S1 and S1R cameras use the L mount that Leica developed but Sigma, Panasonic and Leica are now sharing. The S1 kit with a 24-105mm f/4 runs under $3500... so not really cheap. Then again, a newer GH5 as your primary and your current Lumix as a backup might be a better investment.

I too like these BTS equipment kit videos. It’s interesting to see the particular thing that makes someone’s process work (eg, you seem to rely on the battery eliminator, which makes sense for the style of videos you do). Ewen

It might be worthwhile to look into some of the knockoff Arca Swiss mounts for your gear. Can easily throw one on the slider and pretty much any tripod you might find. Plus they're cheap ~$15 for the tripod side and ~$8 for the camera side, a lot cheaper than the replacement Manfrotto ones. Can also get L brackets for the camera if you ever decide to shoot portrait video and embrace the future (or just flip the tripod head since you're using a photo head).

Bloody hell, right as I should be going to sleep!

A whimsical sitting area. I'm picturing you wearing a smoking jacket, smoking a pipe sitting in an overstuffed chair in front of a bookcase full of antique books, regaling us, your dear, constant viewers with tales of your adventures in Khartoum, Ceylon and the like. Can't wait!

Neat it's always good to see what gear is needed for the production values you are able to output.
