The set has stuff in it now!

So, what do you think?  This took a surprising amount of time to come together.  I may add some knick-knacks and other junk as time passes (also the tops of the end shelves will likely have my Infinity speakers up there for a while), but I think it looks pretty good.

The screens were off for this shot--I plan on making a video tonight about a certain typewriter (unscripted--dangerous!) and won't have them on for that.  I have an idea for unveiling the screens with a very relevant video.

I hope you don't mind that I've been a little slow with content these last weeks.  The content schedule should be accelerating soon!

Thanks!

You do it with an RF modulator. I do not know what Alec uses specifically but there are various types of standalone units. He might even use one of the modulators built into a VCR. Most high quality machines had a composite video input and a modulator for output on VHF channel 3 or 4.

Looks great. When you get a free moment (!) I'd love to see a little video short on how you actually make some of your more unusual tech effects. For example, how you show your own broadcast through an antique tv. Is it wired, or do you have an radio-signal mini broadcaster, much like the FM versions used in cars to get Walkman music via the radio?

Very cool. Now toddle down to your local thrift store and pick up a couple of 78 rpm records and a 1960s portable cassette player to further advance the mid-century theme. And a pair of rabbit ears on the top.

Beautiful job, sir! Proud to be your patron. Rock On!

Generally speaking, I like this new arrangement, i think it will look good on video. I wonder if putting some "naked" piece of electronics, like a cathode ray tube outside its tv, could be good to represent your channel.

Yeah....I'm going to need you to come organize my house next! ;) I think it will be a great backdrop. As others have said, if it's too close and in focus, it could distract the viewer but I think it adds what other videos have been missing. Good job sir!

No, actually. Only one "cell" is obscured--that's the leftmost pair of drawers. I don't mind one being covered--might add to the mystique.

Looks great. Looks like you're going to move the box drawers when you use the TVs?

I'm not too worried about it being too much visually--in actual video this will be pretty tightly cropped as well as partially blurred. This image reveals everything which will be rare in a video. A struggle for me was that some shelves looked empty and barren with small bundles of things. Definitely plan to adapt it over time, though.

Hey, I think the stuff is great, but it’s too much visually and on video especially might be too busy. I’d recommend placing only one object in each section, or if it’s small objects, combinations of 3 work well. You could swap out items from time to time, for example to match the theme of the video you’re shooting.

I've been teetering on this for a while. I kinda like the way it looks as it is, but I also agree it could trigger some perfectionists...

It looks great! I'd trim the Ikea grass so that the top doesn't bend though.
