This is exactly why I show progress pics, the feedback was great and pointed out the lack of that elemental feel. The flames are definitely a step in the right direction and will only be enhanced with posing and being properly integrated with the body.
I went back and checked the lore again as well just to make sure the other aspects are also on track. Salamanders are described as elemental, reptilian humanoids and also serpentine creatures with a humanoid torso, head, and arms so I think we are good to go there.
