It was a very impactful show and colleges across the country started offering courses to study it's impact on pop culture and it's philosophy. There was a 3 day symposium at the University of Arkansas where 90 papers on Buffy from professors and grad students across the country were presented. Plus it's a very popular show for reactors to take on and usually gains a substantial number of new viewers.

Regarding Rob Stark in the books he’s only 14 years old but his character in the show is portraying a 17 year old, so that may also play a part in his response to Theon about not being his house.
