RD 3 Ebook is on track for 2/9 after some final edits. The timeline needs a little patching, but that's most of it.
I am just seeing some of the DD 203 Audiobook files get uploaded today. Proofing and scheduling still need to happen and there’s not enough time to get everything done by 2/9 so that’ll come out 3/9.
The recording of the prior books are complete and are with a proofer.
This book was interesting, I usually avoid large time skips. However, I started this series with the promise of an apocalypse and at the pace we were going it was going to be far too many books before said apocalypse. To me, that feels a little like I lied at the start, so I did hurry it along.
Really from the comments, I gleaned that people were just a little antsy for Bran to progress more. Him holding the fruits for a big upgrade at the end made sense from a story and a Bran perspective, however I’m aware that it tends to make Patreon a little disgruntled when the power progression stalls for a bit of the book.
It is an interesting thing I’ve learned in recent books that I’ve written, but I had started along this path and I wasn’t going to back down.
We get to start the Rapture next book after a touch of reintroducing the characters and giving Bran a mission. Excited to have Bran get to be OP as shit against the first wave of the demons and set a course for a better outcome this time.
I felt Bran had gotten too far ahead of his environment and we had some of the other catch up this book and a little more next book while Bran gets to be OP and just level armies before we throw him into more challenging situations.
Next up is Dungeon Diving 204. I have some mixed ideas on where to take this one. Part of me wants to try and rein the story back into an academy setting, yet I know that every academy book will inevitably free itself from its starting point and lose it’s school focus.
Ken also needs some OP time, I’m excited to see him step back on earth, all of the students are to be taken seriously now. But then he needs to get back to adventuring through the dungeon, this time without all of the CID and UG guidance. They’ll have to figure things out a little more on the fly.
We also get some new races and conflicts to become a part of.

Are we going to have to rebuy all the DD series when they all get converted to the new narrators ?

2025-01-23 20:43:52 +0000 UTCMy problem with RD3 is that I just didn’t care at all about the demon conflict inside the artifact. I liked the back and forth with Da Vinci and the parts with Merlin. As soon as we got through those to the action, the fights against incompetent demons did nothing for me and just kinda dragged. I don’t really care that Bran is less OP or didn’t power up enough. I just wanted more interaction with things that didn’t feel completely resolved from the get go. I like it when Bran feels like he’s outsmarting the opposition. Curb stomping them all because he’s massively stronger or they are weak to begin with isn’t why I’m invested.

2025-01-23 18:53:40 +0000 UTCGotta be honest, I think the lie in regards to RD is the over 2 years Bran had to prepare. That was the beauty of the series, the real power. All those plot hooks laid out and teased, all the possibilities of Bran vs the demon lord. It’s all gone. Guess it’s appropriate I have to wear black for work cos there’s lots to mourn here. I admit the execution of RD3 wasn’t great, but I can overlook a lot if the story is exciting… this wasn’t. It was exceptionally tedious, which was made worse by the hope that it would end and we could move on with the good stuff. It’s your story, but I don’t have to buy it. It does sound like I might have missed something mildly interesting with DD203. I’ll see if I can work up the spoons to read it, which is unlikely as I’ve still not read SSV4 & 5 or DJ8 and 9.

Mainly, it was a band-aid with several hooks that you put in left completely unattended/abandoned. That Bran got his key advantage taken away from him isn't a bad thing story-wise. I stress, it's the execution.

I didn’t love the direction of the last RD but I read and enjoyed it, it’s your story to tell and you tell stories well. None of us can see your end goal, but I’ve read every one of your works and trust your process at this point.

2025-01-23 08:25:00 +0000 UTCLooking forward to seeing Ken again, by far a personal favourite of your MCs as his skills and OP nature has been earned through his journey. Slight thing is that I'd expect some conflict with in Silver Fangs as he is/was still refusing to do much as date outside his party. Maybe have the other team leaders threaten to leave of he didn't at least have a date night or one on one hang out time with them. But, in saying that, we are past the harem explosion point if the series, if Dragons Justice/saving supervillains was anything to go by.

But I really like the story and is my favorite from the current active series so I'm going to trust the process and hopefully we just see Bran kick ass on the next one

Especially if all I have to look forward to is a new DD, honestly a bit sad to see the direction things are going, but it is what it is. I wish you the best going forward, you’re one of the better Authors in the genre, despite recent events. Best of luck.
