AO 8 Ch 2

For a group that normally wasn’t very rowdy, my party was having fun that evening at the inn. We stayed up late with the locals, telling tall tales and getting more than a few rises out of those like Simon, who were latching on to our accomplishments with surprising ease. I took great joy in telling each story with the casualness of commenting on the weather.

But even then, the night eventually came to an end. One by one my ladies trickled up to the few rooms in the inn. Meanwhile, ev...

The door to the tavern opened, and as Beth saw me she paused in the doorway, a child strapped to each of her hips. “What the fuck are you doing here again? Nothing better to do?” she said, not stepping out of the doorway to let me in.

“Oh, come on, Beth. I just thought we'd swing by on the way home.” I told her with my brightest smile.

Beth looked at me without an ounce of humor, “Well, if you're going to be here, I'm putting you to work.” She looked around me to see t...

Patreon Update 12-8-25

Hey Sentars!

Time for that monthly update. Nov was a bit of a bumpy month. I got a little overwhelmed with getting stuck in O’hare on the way home so bad that we ended up renting a car and making that 12 hour trek with a 2 year old. I do not recommend it.

I happens, normally I have some buffer to hide behind and recover. But that wasn’t in the cards as well as a few other things and it looks like I’m going to be getting the next book out the evening of the 10th or the mornin...

DD 302 Ch 40 END

It had Crimson on the ropes even as I rushed forward.

My blades danced along its back, easily cutting through the individual worms, but I didn’t so much as faze the Threadspawn mass before it twisted and kicked.

The worms that made it up spread out like a net, trying to ensnare me in a web of screeching worms.

I cut through it and swung out to the side, before coming back in and trying to deal as much damage as I could.

The Threadspawn however didn’t much care for ...

My party had the Orkai Threadspawn encircled, taking turns at him. We were diving in while he was distracted dealing with someone else, attempting to chip away at the large fighter. It was more like fighting a boss than a person, though the Orkai certainly had me as its target. Even when I ducked back and tried to avoid his attacks, he doggedly pursued me.

His level must have been decently high, because even Crimson wasn’t blowing him away when she struck.

He came at me with the...

We prowled down the hallway, only to pause as Crimson held up a hand and used [Eyes of Wisdom] to scout ahead. I used the moment to pull out my CID and check in with Penny.

Is everything alright? I asked.

We are all fine and safe. There have been no Threadspawn since you left. Penny’s message came back instantly.

Though we have barred the door for what little good that will do.

It sounded like it had been her idea, at least with a response ...

The doc motored away with a handheld electric saw while the first patient moaned and stared up at the ceiling.

“Are you just cutting it out?” I asked him, surprised at how primitive this procedure was starting to look.

“He has an adventurer’s body. That means he’s tougher and more drug resistant than an average citizen. He’s got enough sedatives in him to take out an elephant and as you can see he’s still awake.” The man grumbled. Grumbling had become a common occu...

My mind reeled at the implications of what I had just overheard. Somebody within the UG facilities was demanding the doctor release the worms, and the doctor muttering about Threadspawn. Suddenly, the doctor’s baggy, sleepless eyes took on a far more sinister context.

“Let’s see…” he muttered, walking over to Penny and casting several abilities on her in quick succession. “Alright. Up you go. I assume you already know what to do.”

He said the words to Penny, but we a...

I laughed with Bellaire and Heather at another joke as the rest of the class finished the boss on the floor above and made their way down to train or prepare themselves for the trial ahead.

“Everyone’s looking good,” Heather said, observing the class.

Almost on instinct from all my earlier scans, I used [Eyes of Wisdom]to check my class over. My heart plummeted. Amongst the class, one figure glowed unmistakably with the telltale sight of a Threadspawn.

Internally, I cu...

After a brief stop-in with my grandparents and reassurance from them that they would be perfectly fine against any Threadspawn threats, I found myself deep on the 58th floor, staring at yet another trial monster.

This one was familiar, at least from Crimson’s story.

A bird, perhaps six feet in wingspan, was perched peacefully on a tree, its entire body crackling with dangerous red lightning. Somehow it felt ridiculous just chilling there and occasionally ruffling its wings.

The next several weeks went by in the blink of an eye. We wrapped up our Chicago interviews and bounced all the way across the country, landing a few in Seattle as we trickled down the West Coast, then again at the northern heart of the country there wasn’t much of interest. We were essentially going around counterclockwise, at least until we hit Texas, and then we were going to vault all the way over to Europe for the next part of the PR tour.

I was relieved that a break was coming u...

“Would you like to stick around?” Lady Frey asked the question, leaving what else I wanted to do an option hanging in the air.

I frowned. “Do I have an option?”

The looks I was getting ranged from curiosity to deep animosity. The sentiment seemed related to the hierarchies I had just eliminated pieces from in my identification. Though, was it singular or plural? The demon hierarchy was confusing at best.

“You always have an option,” Lady Frey said. “In fact, yo...

As I watched the procession before me as the demons were herded into the room and up to the stage. I was suddenly overcome with the concern that I was going to have to fight or to slaughter the group being brought forward. This felt like it was becoming a pattern between the threadspawn at the party and this event. Did every group of elites have a new bloodsport?

But as the group began arranging themselves, I wondered if this was something else entirely.

There were some standing i...

Lady Frey stopped suddenly, and I was thankful it wasn’t too jarring as Des and I had been along for the ride. Lady Frey stood next to us with a smug smirk on her face. I had been grabbed by Crimson and dashed through the dungeon before, but the way she had moved was far faster than I had ever experienced.

“Where are we…” Des started to ask, only for the doors to burst open and the pink-haired demon princess I had briefly met before drove through, wearing a puffy blue dress. Thi...

“Yuck.” Felin was on the floor gagging and trying to get the very much not cream out of her mouth as she continued to spit up in the kitchen sink.

Very quickly, once it became apparent that we were no longer safe in the dungeon, it was time to leave. And regardless, Des and I needed to be in Chicago the next day for the rest of our PR tour.

“It’s not—she’s not gonna die, is she?” Des said, glancing at me with a trace of guilt.

“She’s already gotten poison r...

“Are you sure this is the right way, Gar?” Talev asked as they crawled through the dungeon. The five of them had been called by their superiors to deal with an unruly Incubus. Though, even if they weren’t royalty in the hierarchy, it was clear that something was happening with the incubi. The massive void left by their king’s death wasn’t something that could be hidden.

These were more plots, but Gar didn’t care. He was just doing as he was told. The incubus had probably off...

“So does that, like, pay off your debt to Lady Frey, or how much did you get paid for that?” Des asked as we made ourselves comfortable back at camp, distributing the loot. Because even if it was a job to kill them, there was nothing that said we couldn’t take their belongings for ourselves. And apparently that incubus had been fairly well supplied.

He had a gemstone that worked like the inventory on my CID. And that inventory was filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies and p...

“Oh good, they’re resting,” Des said as we found the other demons’ group.

They hadn’t been where Lady Frey initially sent me, but [Eyes of Wisdom] made tracking them easy enough. I found them sheltered against a dungeon wall. Strange stones were scattered around the perimeter, giving off a faint light, so faint I wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t stared long enough looking for tripwires.

“So we’ll go with the resting plan,” Penny said, crouching beside us. ...

This was it we finally made it down to the 53rd floor that we were looking for, after a brief stop in the Orcai library.

The Gale Mites, as they were called in the Orcai system, were dog-sized insects that moved around with the powers of the wind, flinging little domes of pressure with their limbs for a significant boost in damage.

The dungeon floor was rocky rolling hills that had been scrubbed of any soil by harsh winds. Exactly the environment I would expect for these monsters....

A tickle of pleasure woke me up, but it was too much. I was panting, and I cried out, “No. No more. Crimson, no more.” My entire body ached from the workout with Crimson.

I tried to sit up and beg off from any more exercises, only to blink awake as Des and Bellaire were crouched over my cock, trying to wake me up between their breasts.

“Well, that’s not how I expected that to go,” Bellaire said, pointedly glancing over at Des and stuffing herself back into her dress.

“Ken,” the president of the UG, covered his eyes and gave me a scornful shake of his head. “I cannot believe that you stepped outside of humanity for aid. I believe—and Crimson, correct me if I’m wrong—that I expressly wanted to keep this problem under wraps lest the other races use it against us. The situation in the dungeon is delicate.”

I wanted to snort, it was delicate because we were so much weaker than the other races that he wanted respect from.

“Oh, interesting,” Lady Frey said as she stuck her crown of horns through the portal and looked around. “This is a very interesting ability.” She ran a finger along the edge of the portal before stepping fully through. As she stood up, with the crown of horns, she was taller than me and about even with me without them.

“Lady,” Des curtsied.

“You came to bed so late,” Des whined as she dragged me up in the morning. Apparently, she’d tried to wake me up in a more satisfying manner earlier, only to fail.

“Yeah, well, it was complicated,” I muttered, waving a hand to say I could get up myself. “I’ll tell you all more at breakfast.”

Given the size of our group, rather than return to our hotel, we had portaled back to Star City. Especially after witnessing the horrors of the Threadspawn, I didn’t blame th...

“Another?” Lady Frey asked after my most recent question.

We had gone through four trays of appetizers and six pots of tea while I had probed her over nearly every paragraph of the contract. She had been amused for the first hour. But at this point, I felt she was denying my requests out of spite for still reviewing it. This was all, once again, another ploy within her negotiations.

“I don’t know if pretending is the right word,” I offered weakly. “I mean, I am a demon, see?” I waved vaguely at myself. Holy shit, I wasn’t sure Crimson could manha...

We were all still a little shaken up by what had just happened.

“What was that?” Des turned to me. “Was that a threadspawn?”

I nodded gravely. “It’s not the worst part. Did you notice the tub?”

“Yeah, it was a sweet bathroom, Ken. I think that’s beyond the point,” Des said flatly, and I knew she hadn’t noticed the most important detail.

“Yeah,” I said quietly. “That wasn’t a jacuzzi, Des. There were no jets on. That was a tub full of thras...
