Heretic Spellblade 5 is Live

Nathan returns in the latest Heretic Spellblade, and it’s a massive volume. New Messengers, new powers, new politics, and new twists. If you’ve read the last four, you know what to expect.

Grab it from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC6NXML5

Please drop a review if you enjoy it and share it with those who might enjoy it. If you’ve also read the last four, you know why the drill by now.

Book 5 marks the beginning of a long end to the series. A lot of events are set into motion that can only end with the climax of the entire series and Nathan's mission to protect Doumahr. The stakes and scale rises to match, and the true schemes behind much of the story's plot come into focus. While the buildup may be a little slow at the start, it's so I can pay it off with bigger bangs later (including toward the end of this book).

The downside is that this book was an absolute slog to write, for reasons both inside and outside of my control. Getting sick multiple times while writing it wasn’t on the cards. But the rest comes down to the book itself, how I chose to structure it, and the sheer size of it. The biggest element of the process was attempting to weave together the plot of two books. This book is both the largest in size I’ve ever written, and also the largest in scale.

There are still a few more books, though. Book 6 will finish off the story started in this tome. After my experience writing this book, I have arguments for and against splitting Book 7 (i.e. big books fucking suck to write, but splitting the story over two books is also a bitch).

If you read the Patreon chapters, the main changes are fairly minor (due to the particular process I followed for this book), but they are:

The audiobook will be done when it’s done. Podium and Steph have a lot to record, given they’re doing Neural Wraith, Demon’s Throne, and Spellblade.

I’ll talk more about Spellblade 6 here on Patreon over the course of September. This book has exhausted me unlike any other I’ve written, and I need to spend a little time with my own thoughts if I want to maintain quality.

As always, if you spot any typos or other mistakes in the new book (or any other book), please let me know about them using the anonymous form below. This allows me to quickly fix them and improve the experience for later readers. Thanks!
