August Public Update

Busy month, and also an unlucky month. Some audiobook news, though.

• Heretic Spellblade 5 should be out on the 3rd September. It’s been a slog putting it together, and it’s kind of huge, so this comes with caveats (read below). Pre-order will be around 5 days before it’s out if it’s not delayed.
• Following my last update, I’ve had Podium do Demon’s Throne as they did an excellent job with Heretic Spellblade. They’ve confirmed that Stephanie Savannah will be narrating the new Demon’s Throne audiobooks. I’m really looking forward to these when they’re ready, but it will likely be a while.
• I’ve also licensed the Empire Reforged audio to Royal Guard. So, yes, I will finish this series. I’ll talk more about this once it’s relevant and there’s something substantial to announce (the talks have kind have come at an awkward time given I’ve been busy).

Anyway, Spellblade 5 caveats. Anyone here has seen some of my rumblings on the book, but I haven’t really talked about some other aspects. Namely that I’ve had a shit run of luck while trying to finish up the book. As I’ve joked with a few people, I think restaurants have it out for my writing plans, as I’ve gotten food poisoning twice recently (one of these times was during Neural Wraith) and I’m currently fighting a cold. I expect to power through it, but if it affects my writing, then things get delayed. If I get feedback that the book needs some more time in the oven, then that’ll happen.

At this point, I don't expect to adjust the pacing of the book (after recent feedback) but it's frequently difficult to tell when I'm becoming overly comfortable with my writing, if I'm burning out and that's affecting my output, or if I'm just being overly negative. I expect I'll need some time to recalibrate at the end of the year.

Anyway, hopefully my next update is about the book releasing. Patrons should know whether the book is delayed well before any official announcement.
