April Patreon Update
Added 2022-04-16 00:47:19 +0000 UTCThis update is mostly a refresher on what I'm working on or what's coming up.
Demon's Throne 3 is out. It's done okay. Feels like many people got upset/annoyed at the things I expected, particularly Mina doing things - the genre feels more risk-averse than ever. The next book isn't planned to be written until much later in the year, as Spellblade and new series are the focus, which is definitely some amazing foresight on my part.
Early chapters for Spellblade 5 will start next month. As I'm planning Books 5 and 6 together, I don't want to rush into it. That's part of why I made this month free, as I knew it was unlikely I'd be posting more chapters.
Last time I promised extra content for Messengers, I delivered nothing. But here goes anyway:
- The second part of the Kadria short story should be posted
- I'm working on Cipher, so expect content for that
- The cover for Cipher is underway
- They may be an extra thing, but don't count on it
- No short stories or extra content for Demon's Throne for the foreseeable future. I'll need to recover motivation before I touch it again.
Some of that Messenger content may spill over into next month, given we're halfway through April already.
Schedule-wise, expect Spellblades 5 and 6 mid-year, and probably a book before them.

Love Mina. Sorry the book isn’t doing so well. Sucks cause the genre needs authors like you.

2022-04-18 18:35:11 +0000 UTCI sometimes don't understand haremlit readers. Why are they so hellbent on first person perspectives. I personally wish there were more pov chapters for all the characters in general in haremlit, but that's not a reason for me to not like a series or character. And so far Mina is one of my favourites in DT.

2022-04-16 06:51:46 +0000 UTCMina is not my favorite by any means but none of her POV’s detracted from the story… which is usually difficult in harem stories. Everything went well in this book especially as it was a time skip book. I started reading spell blade but this is my favorite series. We did get less Rhys contemplation than I would’ve liked but we did get him trying to contemplate and then get his head sliced open from the astral… I do want some of that to be resolved sooner rather than later but that’s from a readers perspective.

2022-04-16 06:48:46 +0000 UTCI think this book was the best in the series, and Mina is my favorite of the foxes. Heretic spellblade is my favorite of your series so I'm definitely hyped for two of those in a row!

2022-04-16 05:23:55 +0000 UTCJesus, my view of the general public of haremlit readers is growing more and more grim. I think stories with multiple PoVs are awesome and creates great scenes from a different perspective. Many people dislike large harems because 9 times out of 10 the original caste that started the harem are completely replaced by the newer additions and become a past reference or just someone working in the background. You are pretty much 1 of 3 authors that are able to keep everyone in the harem relevant, no matter how many more are added and how long the story has continued, thus far. I'm still dumbfounded and how you're able to do it. The second PoV thing is nitpicking, which I admit is more biased on my part. I thought Rys had enough large battles in the story to keep one happy, but that's just me. To what it's worth I think you're doing an amazing job.

2022-04-16 02:14:27 +0000 UTCI'll try to keep this "objective" as I'm a bit grumpy over the Mina stuff myself. There are three main reasons I'd pin: - A lot of people dislike PoV chapters. That's basically it. They want everything to be through the eyes of the main character, either because they don't like certain side characters, or because they're self-inserting, or because romance from the female side bothers them. I've previously kept PoV chapters to plot purposes, whereas Mina's are for characterization. - Mina and Vallis get a lot of focus, because I'm hammering out detailed character arcs. If somebody doesn't like either of them, this will make the book bad because too much time is spent on a character they dislike. This is a significant part of why I feel so many complain about large harems as well (time is spent on characters they're less interested in). - Mina's second PoV chapter also covers the war. So she bears the brunt of people unhappy there is no big battle chapter covering the war.
