I know exactly what you mean!! Its def a journey!!!

If you don't mind (and if you do that's totally fine) but was it Wellbutrin that was causing you trouble? I just remember, in the pit of horribleness that I felt thinking it was funny because it was called WELLbutrin but did anything but make me well 😅😅

I accidentally posted before I was done so I hope you're able to read the whole post. It can be so hard with meds but your gut knows, and if it's anything but a goodish feeling it's better to stop and start over. I'm still getting used to patreon comments I'm sorry 😅

Sam Fritz

hey sam! omg thanks for sharing!! that's how i felt.. headache.. insanely lightheaded.. and my heart was pumping loud. i'm gonna have to pass on the wellbutrin and try out something else until i find the right cocktail haha

I have been bouncing from med to med for literally a decade at this point trying to get help. One of my biggest anxieties with meds is starting something new and the possible reaction. I tried Wellbutrin a super long time ago and within a day or two was experiencing very similar things. My head was pounding, I was anxious for no reason and I was angry for no reason. I don't remember much but I remember being so incredibly overwhelmed with feelings that I couldn't function. Being off any medication entirely was better than that feeling. It has been incredibly difficult, life changing and at points, almost life ending but I eventually ended up on Lexapro. It's been almost two years, and I am in a higher than normal dose but it has genuinely changed my life. I have heard many stories about negative reactions to Lexapro but I have heard just as many positive comments about Wellbutrin. Meds aren't a one size fits all and it can be really hard to find the right combination of things a the right doctor to figure it out. But at 26, 2 years into a new med, (things still get hard) but I have so much more hope. Mental health is fricken hard, and, long story long (I'm sorry) don't settle for anything less than good. "it's fine" "it's alright" no. It should be fricken good. I really hope you're able to get it figured out with your doctors, I'm not expert but I have experience and if you need any mildly helpful info I'm here for you 🩷

Hope your chat goes well Po and they help you find a more suitable medication. Take it easy.

petitchoufleur

oh wow i never heard of that!!! thank you soo much

tatti

thank you! i'm gonna talk to my doctor tomorrow and let her know i'm not gonna be taking it anymore. ugh i just wish the nausea would go away it's really driving me nuts!

tatti

Nope nope! Not OK. If you ate something and it made you sick, would you eat it again? If a medication makes you feel wrong you shouldn't continue it. It takes sometime for a med to work and give you the full benefit. However, this isn't about the benefit, this is a medicine making you feel awful. I've been told to keep taking a drug that made me sick. It's always a mistake.

Sorry to hear you feel ill. You should go to/call your doctor. At the very least send them a note in your chart app. I hope you feel better soon.

it sucks but its worth it to feel better.

Hey Po. Psychometrist at a neuropsych office here. Trying and switching different medications definitely can take a toll. We usually recommend geneSight testing to give patients an idea what medications work best for their genetic makeup. It's just a mouth swab, and you'll get a print out of medications in different categories- either green, yellow, or red. The meds that fall in the green category are supposed to work best for you, anything in yellow is more 50/50, and red are meds you should stay away from. I hope you feel better soon! ❤️

feel better sweetheart!!!!!!!!!!

Get well soon 🙏

So sorry you’re going through this Po. Switching medication is awful. It’s so hard to explain to others if they haven’t experienced it personally. The physical, mental, and emotional effects of new medication cannot be underestimated. I had to go through a lot of different anti-depressants before I found the right one and right dosage. It was also slightly complicated by the fact that I have another condition. Some anti-depressants had such awful side effects that I just couldn’t take them. I had some very understanding doctors. When I explained what was happening, they were very open to helping me try different anti-depressants and different dosages. It took a long time of trying different anti-depressants but last year I was finally given the anti-depressants that I am currently on. I understand that they are one of the newer anti-depressants. They have less side effects. I’ve been taking them for over a year now, and I’ve had no side effects and they actually work. My piece of unsolicited advice (sorry, I can’t help it!): If you feel awful, Po please contact your doctor. Please do not suffer in silence. Explain to them what is happening to you and ask for other options. A good, understanding doctor will help you explore other options (new medication, lower or higher dosage etc.). Look after yourself Po. Xox

Oh, I’m so sorry! Mental health issues suck butt.😭😭 I’ve been on antidepressants for years and they’re the best. I tried to go off a couple times and it kicked my butt. I hope you find a new med that works for you!!

Janie Herron

😫 I hate that. They may be able to give you a lower dose of you can't cut it yourself. I'm sorry you're dealing with this, it's the most miserable feeling.

Renee St. Aubin

ugh i feel so awful i don't even want to take the new ones tomorrow...... =(

tatti

Oof that’s a hard one, I did great on Effexor but not with Wellbutrin, the headaches were awful. I do know that some meds are more effective with getting your water in and protein. I know you mentioned eating is hard but maybe having a protein shake (Fairlife are really good) and focusing on water may help. But if it’s really bad a med change may be needed. I hope it gets better soon!

Jovanah Watkins

thank you! god it feels awful i don't even want to take them tomorrow but i'll have to talk to my provider asap

tatti

Switching meds gets me all messed up, too. Hopefully it won't take too long to even out. Just make sure you're not suffering longer than needed, I had a bad experience with trintellix and waited months before telling my doc, don't be like me. 😊 But I hope it gets better soon, I feel like the first week is always the worst.

Renee St. Aubin

they're anti-depressants. so i went from effexor to wellbutrion to help with my adhd - trying to kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone type of deal

tatti

I have switched a couple of times and finally stayed with my current ones because they don't give me the awful side effects that didn't allow me to properly function (extreme fatigue, I was able to sleep anywhere). Also, whenever I start a new med, my doctor gives me a small dose and we increase it gradually to see how I feel with it and if it's doing its job. Hope that can help you.

Yolo Rc

If it’s not to personal share are they anxiety/anti depressants or adhd meds?

Jovanah Watkins

Hope you feel better soon! 🫶
